So I picked up this Reate D9 prototype at the flea market. I believe it's a Reate but isn't marked 'Reate' just 'D9' on the liner lock side. It looks right to me, but curious of others opinions...[IMG][IMG][IMG]
Also, how many would carry vs. how many would put away as a safe queen? Not much into buying knives I cant/dont carry, personally.

I'd carry and use the crap out of it.

Yup...already got myself once with it. Haha.
It does need a professional edge put on it though...contacted Reate to see about sending it in for a real sharpening. If not then I'll just handle it myself, as usual.

That's definitely a good idea, the can tell you if it's made by Reate or not.
What I personally wouldn't like about the blade is the washed over lines like on the false edge.
It's looking as if somebody would've used a scotchpad wheel and ground the whole blade.
On the clip side it's looking the same around the pivot so I think it would be cool if they could also bead blast the handles again to make it look like new (if you'd even want that, this way it has a kind of history).

For a user these things are no big deal though.

Hm, I really like the shape and if it was mine I guess I'd anodize it in a two-tone way.
Would it be impolite to ask how much you paid for this little gem?

I contacted the Reate team through email and Instagram and finally got a response on ig. They agreed that is a Reate built D9 Plus but suggested the blade had a regrind already . I dont think so but maybe...

Thinking about sending it to Urban EDC Supply and having the blade anodized later but probably just going to leave it the way it is, minus adding a razor sharp edge a few weeks back.
I don't wanna day exactly what I paid for it. The gentleman was asking $175 but came down a bit.. a big bit! Felt like I got a good deal, to say the least.
As for whether or not to carry it, it's seen quite a bit of pocket time lately. Especially now that it's been sharpened.
