I come from a trade background and have been working on my real estate permit for the last couple of months, my permit was issued yesterday and should be here in the next few business days, so as someone completely new to the industry I was surprised to see what the day to day was actually like for the average agent in my area, lots of walking, lots of travel, lots of late nights, early mornings, angry messy tenants, strangers houses but lots of adventure The crux of the issue I’m facinv is that as I need to be dressed well (no more vertx pants with a spyderco in the front left pocket) I am making myself a new assortment of gear that I will carry. Firstly the pack (waiting on it to arrive) I’ve settled on a 5.11 Lima in double tap. Here are some pictures and I’ll update the thread as we go. Don’t mind the pack in the background, old photo. This gives you a basic idea of my personal carry, not pictured are my iPhone and Black Walter wallet.
I get my work slacks at Belks, shirts at Eddie Bauer. I've seen some tacticool oriented guys that travel a lot wearing Buffworks Chinos. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Is there any kind of realtor / real estate agent professional/networking group around you? If you can find one, maybe pick the brains of some of your peers/competitors... Some of what you're asking can be very geographic/culture dependent! Even here in US, there can be a world of difference in edc, style of clothing, etc., from one area of the country to another. Someone in NYC for example is going to be setting themselves up pretty different from someone in the middle of Texas. Just to give an example! L'chaim! Moshe ben David
Haha I forgot the default is American unless otherwise specified. For what it’s worth I’m in Australia.
Oh there probably is and I have a few friends in the Industry but the day to day can be very solitary so essentially I’m quite free to do as I please as long as it yeilds results. When meeting with other professionals my gear is quite different to what I would carry in the field. I have found having a car with the variables required and quick storage solutions to be a godsend.
True, I guess the chances of them having a pistol are reduced too however. I have a few knives, still illigal but I’m yet to be searched
No reason you can't dress well and still carry. You may need to clip your knife into your waistband rather than your pocket. I sometimes carry one in my waistband at about 7:00. A relatively wide belt will almost fully conceal the clip. A nice sport coat or suit jacket will allow you to carry quite a bit in the pockets.
I happened to see a license plate frame yesterday that said ALUMNI STARFLEET ACADEMY Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Haha so good! I put a Starfleet patch on my sord scavenger bag as; A. It’s awesome. B. It distracts from the overly military look of the bag. C. I had it around at the time
Mother is a real estate agent Have two close friends who are too Tape measure/ or laser One carries a LM multitool for little things (ie: pliers to pull up corner of carpet to check for what sort of floor is underneath, screwdriver to quickly 'fix' a loose screw etc) Two pens, in case one craps out Notepad Small light Their cell, which has a camera No need for a ton of backup gear, FAK, tourniquets etc pretty basic. The guys just keep the stuff in their pocket, except for their notepad No MaxPed pouches etc...youre a real estate agent, ditch the tactical crap.
