In order that they get patted down on the way out the door:
Wallet (currently a Trayvax Summit)
Knife (Benchmade Mini-Grip D2 for work, various others on non-work days)
Keys (Car and house)
Phone (Pixel 3a XL)
Watch (Currently favoring the Islander ISL-01)
In work bag (Yeti Rambler 18oz)
In work bag (Staples ARC planner)
Into shirt pocket Rite in the Rain pen and a cheap throw away pen (for people you know you won't get a pen back from)
Not to be a party pooper, but I'm a minimalist and anything in my pocket is essential. Wallet, keys, phone, J-Frame.
I'm fortunate that I no longer commute to an office every day. That helps a lot.
Personally I don’t consider items of clothing, jewelry, and/or items that are absolutely necessary for day to day function as a part of my “EDC”, because even though I carry them everyday, I consider them a part of my dress. I would carry, wear these things everyday because they are a matter of essential function. My keys to operate a vehicle, my watch, my wallet which allows me to do essential business, are examples of these. For me, EDC are those items I’ve learned to carry through the years, as a matter of experience, that have helped me, that I do not necessarily need to function. So ranking my EDC in order of importance...
1) cell phone
2) Swiss Army knife
3) pocket flashlight
4) pocket pen
Oh, and I guess reading glasses nowadays...which might better fit in my essential/functional daily “dress” description above

Car keys- not going anywhere without them
Wallet- Need my license and probably money
Phone- Cause my phone is my life
Knife- I like to cut things
Knife (Boker Auto or BM Griptillian normally)
Handkerchief (surprised more people haven't listed this)
Sig P938 (if I'm going out)
Small 1st Aid/meds kit (if I'm going out)
No matter what I'm doing, these are always with me:
4. Insulin Pen
5. Keys for whatever I'm driving
Everything else after these items are nice-to-haves.
I guess I fall into the minimalist category. Items 1 thru 4 items are always with me and, items 5 and 6 only when I leave the house.
1 - Wallet
2 - Bandana
3 - Vostok Amphibian Wristwatch
4 - Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops Folder
5 - Keys
6 - Phone
3.Small old fashioned pocket knife
7. Automatic knife
8. Spare magazine or speed loader
I don't consider my keys, wallet, or phone as part of my EDC. People who have never heard of the term EDC carry these things everyday, substitute a mass transit or bus pass for some, I guess.
I can't start my truck or drive it legally without keys or a license, so these are non-negotiable. A phone is just as necessary, for me, to conduct business as I work out of the house and travel overnight a few days of the week. We haven't had a land line in the house for almost 20 years so it's the only means of communication for our family.
After these necessities, I use a light slightly more than a knife, although it's close, then a pen, watch and a firearm would round out the in my pockets list.
I keep a bag in the truck with a bunch of other things that have proven to be useful but wouldn't consider them as part of my EDC.
Regular EDC for non-business trips:
key-ring with flat keys, ThruNite Ti3 flashlight, SAK "Manager" knife & tools, zipper-pull whistle
wallet with cash, cards, identification, driver license, etc.
COVID-19 face mask (starting tomorrow we have a nation-wide (Germany) legal requirement to wear such a thing during shopping or public transport)
hat (base cap or ranger-style)
a jacket (depending on weather: wind breaker, rain jacket, etc.)
EDC pouch or EDC should bag or EDC backpack - depending on travel location, distance, time, etc.
2. Cash (on clip)
3. Belt <-- is this technically not EDC? I don't think anybody has mentioned it.
6. Pocket Knife
In order of appearance:
Folding tactical blade
Pistol + 1 spare mag
Flashlight (depending on time of day)
Prayer+Game face (never leave home without it)
