After much research and decision making I finally picked my first pistol! I went with a Glock 19! I went with a gen 3 because I found it available at a local place, and I was able to make a trade towards the purchase so I got it for a decent price. Really loving this gun. Feels great in hand and really is everything I had hoped it would be! I also purchased the Foxx IWB hybrid holster which is great! Only got to wear it around the house, still waiting on the next CCDW class, but I thought it was pretty comfy and the time from order to having it in hand was only 3 days! I ordered Tuesday and it was delivered today! All in all I'm pretty excited with everything. Think the gun bug has bit me!
Congrats on the new purchase, and thank you for caring about your community enough to get your concealed carry permit. What kind of ammo do you have loaded in there?
The ammo loaded currently is Speer Lawman 147 grain TMJ. Also have a couple boxes of Federal 115 grain FMJ but haven't shot those yet.
Luckily my cousin actually just opened a store, so finding ammo hopefully won't be too bad. I've stocked up 1000+ rounds for my Ruger 10/22 but just started getting 9mm ammo. I'll get some pics of the holster in a bit, didn't have time to snap any yet today!
Outstanding! You've started your gun collection with a real winner! Now you need to get a Ruger .22 pistol to practice with. I'd recommend buying a used MKII series pistol over the new MKIII series. The older MKII pistols didn't have all the ridiculous safety garbage, and they can often be had at very good prices.
Great choice, I carry a similar rig a lot. Get some good defensive ammo and some training. You made a well informed purchase.
Yeah a good Ruger MKII (especially if it has a bull barrel) is about the best shooting thing on the planet.
Actually the bull barrels are heavy and clunky. What's nice about the MKII pistols is that many were made in the tapered barrel configuration. I've got a 7-inch MKII with a heavy tapered barrel and it's one of the best pistols I've ever shot. The balance is perfect.
Great choice. My favorite carry weapon as well. I probably won't ever carry another type of gun. Looking forward to the pic of your holster. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
The new ruger 22/45 lite are great guns, change the bushing and you have the same take down as a mark ii. Use a magnet to pull the pin on the lci and you can let it be or fill it. Change the trigger or the sear or both. Basically they are great guns out of the box but if you want to play there are hundreds of aftermarket parts you can play with to make it truly yours. Most of this is simple part swapping you can do yourself no smith required. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
