I've been thinking about getting a portable DAC for my phone/table/(iPod when I still use it). Does anybody else use one? What do you use? What do you use it with? How well does it work?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Digital Analog Converter.

I used to use a Headamp Pico DAC.

FiiO E17 - combination DAC / headphone amp. Like most FiiO gear, its not the best you can buy, but it is a good performer for the money.

I assume all portable DACs have headphone amps, otherwise they wouldn't be so portable. That Headmp Pico seems kinda pricy. Do you think carrying the extra weight around is worth in increased audio performance? This would be strapped to my cellphone most of the time.
