I like the Alox finish because the metal is more sturdy then plastic

    Sharp.

The way I like all my knives.

But seriously, I like the regular plastic handles. They're the ones I am used to and they are less cold in the winter. I think the see-trough handles would be a lot more slippery than the regular ones, so I stick with the ones I am used to.

Plastic, because that's what I have always had.
But I still really want an orange or blue alox :)

I prefer the plastic handles, transluscent doesn't look good IMO, and alox doesn't have a toothpick and tweezers :(.

Alox, with plastic a close second. I really despise the translucent ones though. :(

I'm definitely a fan of the alox, both for feel, durability, and robustness of the tools. The Soft Touch is pretty cool too, though I'm kinda undecided on it.

Only SAKs I love and carry are Soldiers and Farmers: after trying Alox scales and thicker blades, I could never go back to anything else. Also, the tool selection for these models makes perfect sense to me, a very good compromise of utility and minimalism. Perfection goes to the point of needing the keyring on the Farmer (to attach a firesteel) and not wanting one in the Soldier.

I don't know if this was answered in another thread, but since this is about different handles on SAKs, I just have to ask:
Is it possible to replace the plastic handles with alox ones?
I know that replacing plastic with plastic is quite easy, to repair your SAK or change its color (still thinking about blue handles for my EDC Climber). But when I look at the pictures, the alox handles seem to be riveted on, while the plastic ones are snapped on.

Traditional red plastic, I would have voted for Alox but I have to give up the toothpick and tweezers.

    am a bit divided here..

I like Alox,.. I have 2 Soldiers, one for backup..
but in knife-fearing communities of the developed world, the red plastic is more recognisable as "non-threatening",.. I can use a red plastic SAK in public without inviting stares..

So.. in the wild or knife-neutral communities, it is the alox,.. otherwise it's the red plastic..

I'm another who's torn. I own and use alox SAKs, but plastic sided models tend to be my EDC. Currently, it's a Victorinox Rucksack in my pocket and a Vic Huntsman Plus in my bag. I like the strength of alox, but I also like having the toothpick and tweezers. When I think over the years, I realize that except for a few years that I EDC'ed a Victorinox Farmer, I have always carried SAKs with either celidor or nylon scales.

Bone or wood, and metal bolsters are nice too. Not fond of aluminum anything(call it alox all you want, to me its plain old aluminum...)

I carry a Craftsman. If it had Alox scales it would be perfect for me - I wish it did.
