He added a hand written card to my order. In my mind that is old school good business and I will definitely recommend everyday ruckoff as a top notch company and a gentleman to boot.
Good on you for mentioning it, wish I'd thought of it. Cheers.

I get my GI MEMO BOOKS at paperclipsetc online

12 bucks a dozen. They carry side and top bound but hard to find on their site. You have to play with their search.

That's nice of him. I just received the Tobacco Brown waxed canvas cover from him. Inspired to get it after seeing your post. I like it a lot. Thanks!

It finally came in the mail, Im happy with the size and look of it but greatly disappointed in the overall quality in paper and amount of leather (the inside is entirely lined with fabric).

Do you guys have issues breaking in field note books? Having to find my place is a pain at times.

Take a piece of tape and a thin string. Tape the string to the back of the cover near the top and use it as a marker.

I snip the top corner off the page with scissors when I have filled it up.

I've though about it (string that is)but hadn't put any thought on how to go about it. That's about as simple as you can get. I'll see if I can impliment that in.

Not a bad idea, though I'd have to get creative when not at my desk.

Ummm fold the corners ? Number them with a special red pen ? Use a business card as a book mark ? If you use a piece of ribbon it should be Chinese silk...:)

It should be that easy! Just got to work through it.

That said, I'm not always on sprawled out flat surfaces. The best way may be a quick but destructive way.

I just put a big rubber band in mine. Wrapped from front of book to where I'm at. Pretty much just like Henry Jones senior's diary in The Last Crusade.

I wrap a rubberband with my place and another to hold the whole thing together. Two problems with this system is a) slow to get open and b) can warp the book.

I've tried black binder clips. You can get them very small and they won't distort when holding 48 pages like a paperclip can.

Finally found a cheap pocket notebook!
3 for a buck! I'm stocked up, so I don't need to ever buy any more. Paper is thinner, and lower quality, but come on, what do ya expect for 33 cents a piece? It actually works really well, no matter the ink I put on it.

Pen is a Jinhao 599 non-hooded, M with Noodlers Air Corps blue-black (I think) with a complementary finger print!

Notebook cover was from All Day Ruckoff, pencil was from Amazon, notebooks were from All Day Ruckoff, stickers were from All Day Ruckoff.

The blue thing in the back is from Tom Bihn.

I think that covers everything :)
