Yepper...

I stay busy with:
Grad School
Grad assistantship
and being a Gov't contractor

my bag usually gets stuffed full of documents for work, sometimes I get to lug around extra computers and office equipment for presentations. One day MY assistant will do the same.

I also bike commute 3-4 times a week and my bag stays full of fleece and extra clothes along with books.

It all gets used though, I don't like carrying unnecessary things.
Thanks for the comments!

Here's my S-type jumbo, after a fun afternoon playing 'MaxP Lego.' Terrible lighting, sorry -

Added on are Barnacle & M2 pouches, a 4" tube sheath, Leatherman MOLLE pouch & a few Grimlocs. I also changed all all the zip pulls for square paracord lanyards.

I've not had this long, and keep buying bits to bolt on. :) A couple of things I've noticed; the leatherman pouch sits an inch lower than any other pouch & so looks out of place. New Maxpedition stuff in green (the Barnacle) is a different colour to the bag, and the sheath is different again. I don't mind this, as it looks all modular and 'tactical' which makes me feel groovy... ;)

And finally, adding pouches is fun (and so is taking them off & swapping them around), but if you start to fill them up the thing gets bloody heavy bloody fast! ;D

Ronin Six how did you go about removing the storm flap? I want to do the same, it just gets in the way.

This is a pic of my first EDC bag. I just got it today from cheaperthandirt. :woohoo:
I'm super impressed with the build quality on this thing. and it holds more than enough stuff than I would carry on an average day. I'm just still feeling a little awkward about the whole murse thing but I'm sure it'll pass. :)

Contents: Leatherman surge
Benchmade Mel Pardue auto
Fenix L2t
Elektrolumens Lucidus Xr-3
Modified Prybar that I chopped and sharpened
Old School Brass Zippo
Gameboy Advance SP
Olympus Digital Voice Recorder
Leather Notebook
A couple of cheap Zebra pens.

NSaglibene, I did it with a new, sharp hobby knife, being very careful to cut close to the seam tape and not cut into anything else. Afterwards, I just knocked back any remaining loose threads with a lighter. You can still see some remnants of the storm flap in the upper portion of this pic just below the seam tape. It's a permanent modification, but it really works well for me. Hope that helps! :)

Thank Ronin, just cut the flap out of mine. Works a lot better that way.

Just a couple of thoughts and I hope this is the right place to post them.

(1) all the stuff here looks really attractive. I know I'm guilty of the same sin. Isn't it a mistake to carry around attractive stuff? We are not camouflaging our goodies much, are we?.

(2) you guys don't fly that much, do you? (just kidding, imagine trying to get on a plane, these days, with some of this stuff :( ).

Very nice bags and very interesting thread.

Good questions.

1. It isn't a mistake as long as you keep your gear in a safe place on you on your person. One thing is not to keep everything out, but have it available when you need it.

2. I travel quite a bit and obviously sometimes you cannot take everything with you. But you take what you can. When I travel I do travel a little lighter and pack all the non-carry on items with my luggage. With EDC items the key is to adjust to different situations like travel and such.

My kit is much more spartan than these. I don't go out of my way to camouflage my gear, but being cheap, it doesn't look like much anyway. My bag is also small and light enough that I carry it with me constantly unless there is a way to secure it (i.e. locker, etc.). I don't even leave it in my car. I've had my car broken into when away for 15 minutes, picking up lunch.

I don't fly much since changing jobs. Oddly, my job responsibilities changed just before September 11, 2001 and I didn't have to travel nearly as much. But even prior to that, I kept a separate air travel kit so that I wouldn't have to sort through my stuff to pull out the airline-unfriendly gear.

I travel often and visit court houses regularly...

It helps to comparmentalize all your sharps and tools this way you know where to go when you need them, and can simply remove one unit when necessary rather than dig for multitools and impact devices.

Good Evening to All -- Been meaning to get this done, and tonight was finally the night. I received by Country Comm BOB for Father's Day this past summer and LOVE it. It is my daily to work bag and Sunday church bag. I think everyone knows what one looks like, but in case you don't:

I normally carry a 24 oz Camel-Bak bottle of water in 1 end pocket (F), and a radio, camera and batteries in the other end (A). Here's one side with what I carry:

(A) End Pocket - 2M/70cm HAM radio (Yaesu FT-60R); camera (Nikon CoolPix L10); batteries (AA's & CR123's)
(B) Large Side Pocket - Sharpie Mini's (fine tip & hi-lighters) and 3X5 index cards
(C) Upper Small Pocket - pill vial with 3 days worth on Rx and butane lighter
(D) Lower SMall Pocket - pill vial with AAA's, Q-tips & cotton ball; waterless hand cleaner; ear bud for cell phone
(E) Large Side Pocket - glasses case with old/spare glasses; head-set for ham radio
(F) End Pocket - 24 ox water bottle

On the other side, I have:
(G) Pen/Pencil Pockets - Sharpie (double tips) & mechanical pencil
(H) Large Pocket - First Aid Kit & handi-wipes
(I) Lower Pocket - cable ties; X-large trash bag; para-cord; smaller nylon cord; spork

In the main pocket I have:
Orange plastic folder (good for carrying papers, magazine, etc.)
my planner (junior or 5.5X8.5 size)
Frog Tool (Gander Mtn for $1.00)
and the SureFire E1L (that should have been out with the above picture)
On Sunday, I pull the orange binder and planner out, and insert the Bible.

I've been real happy with the bag so far. I do wish it was just a tad bigger (about 1" longer & 1' higher) so I could carry a 1" binder. Sorry, not a detailed review, all the good things have already been said.

Have a good evening. -- Greg

Grizhicks Nice Picture Post, thank you.

The only other item I pack is some cigars. In my case, they're necessities ;)

my "Infiltration Sling" for when i do urban exploration and other stuff. the sling fits snugly and feels much better for movement while climbing, jumping etc. feedback most welcome! i used to go with a knife and flashlight pretty much, so now with all this stuff its pretty overkill. but fun, and comforting. better to have and not use, then wish you had it! some of the items, um yeah dont ask.

Eddie Bauer Sling Bag @ amazon.com. Sharpied out the logo to blacken it, and swapped out all the zippers for silent zipper pulls. When packed very quiet (no jingles, just clench it tighter to not shift sometimes), even while running and jumping.

Strap Pocket
- A CRKT Ringer (skinner blade?) attached to the inside top of the integrated pouch on the front strap, so i can unzip a bit and grab easily.

Outside Pocket
- Connected and ready zip ties for handcuffs. 14" i think, strong heavy black ones.
- Princeton Tec Pulsar II in red LED, connects to the key fob inside.
- REI signal mirror. cheap and flexible and light.
- Mini roll of duct tape.
- Brunton Echo 7x18 Pocket Scope.
- Suunto Clipper L Micro Compass (Luminous Bezel).
- Princeton Tec Genesis LED light, with 3 filters.
- Extra batteries.
- Black latex gloves, 2 pairs.
- Commando Clear Anodized Pro Series Handle with One Piece Standard 3/8" School Chalk.

Main Compartment
- Wool mask.
- Bobster googles with 3 lenses (usually only take/use the orange lenses).

- Green glowstick (usually have 2)
- SOG Gov-Tac

- Prybar (the large one) @ http://www.countycomm.com/PRYBAR.htm

Some nice pics, and some ideas I like that I haven't seen before.

HoopleHead- I like your sling bag. Low profile. :)
