The spacing of that PALS webbing
I love my maxpedition remora
My day hiking pack.
Rigged my camelbak bladder with a nalgene magnetic bite valve.
and this is what I get to hike 4-5 times a week
Love that Bark River Canadian Special! I "won" an Antique Ivory handled one in a giveaway about a year ago.
My first "proper, grown-up, sensible " outdoors /bushcraft knife.
Great pix! This looks like an awesome hike.
May I ask what the logic is regarding the pals?
What do you mean? PALS allows the addition of pouches and slip things in like shown. Modularity!
As Risc_Terilia pointed out, though, that isn't standard PALS. It's supposed to be 1" strap, 1" space, 1" strap, etc. so you can match it up and "weave" the straps on two items together for maximum security. The straps on that bag are too close together.
Ahh, I missed that. That is rather odd.
I decided not to get it online and went to my local outdoor store and picked up the Osprey Quantum. They had no black, which i wanted, but i got this one on sale. The blue grows on me every time i wear it.
cheap bag. I have one like it, same problem. it can still work with some pouches.
mine's relegated to storing the various bit's and peices I keep in the back of the car.
thing is, if they'd spaced it properly, they would not only make a better bag, but it would be cheaper to produce, since they'd have less rows.
I think you're going to like it. It's pretty much the best bag I've ever owned! I was lucky enough to come across my black one on sale.
Thanks. Yea so far for school it carried everything I used too in my jansport, but feels a lot lighter on my back. I can already tell that this bag is quality.
REI pack, money well spent !
Long time no see... All right, I'll bite. Here are some quick cellphone shots of mine.
5.11 RUSH 12 in sandstone color. Been carrying it daily for a year or so. Loving it.
The paracord wrapped handle is a very nice mod for any mid-to-large sized bag, IMO. It's easy to do, looks good, and feels great on the hand - much better than the bare strap handle. This is the usual king cobra stitch. I also replaced all the zipper pulls with black ones.
Something I didn't like about this bag when I started using it, is how the PALS straps on the sides went all the way around the edge, right next to the main zipper. These loops do not protrude enough to get stuck on the zipper, but they do snag and stop it.
This doesn't happen too often on the lower PALS straps, because the zipper runs straight.
However, on the top PALS loops above the compression straps, the zipper curves, and it snagged way too often for my taste. So I cut that protruding loop of the top straps and sewed it out of the way:
I use the left compression strap to hold an umbrella when I need to:
There's a Maxpedition EDC Pocket organizer attached to the right side of the pack with 2 long MALICE clips. I can access the contents while wearing the pack, by taking off the left strap and turning the pack around. I didn't like the velcro closure on the mesh pocket so I removed it. I also removed one of the sliders of the zipper - this way the pull is always on the top when the pouch is closed.
I love how the organizer pocket opens all the way.
Metro de Madrid?
Also, what's that orange plastic thingy? ocarina?
Yes and yes. They're fun to play. There's a smaller one beneath it.
