It's stealth alright. Well, except for the stainless band at the top.:D They also do this on the bottles in their military line and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

I'm pretty sure it is to avoid the coating flaking into drinking area. I have had some cheaper bottles where the "color" flaked and that was really the end of their useful life for me.

That seems logical to me, but it does ruin any some of camouflage properties the bottle would otherwise have.

I totally agree but it is rather disconcerting to have flakes of whatever coating is on the bottle come off on your lips as you take a swig of agua

if the bright SS collar is a concern, just cover it with a wide black rubber band - perhaps one of those wrist bands that people wear for different causes. The band can be pulled down when drinking and just popped back into place.

Mine is a Vapur Shades 0.5L soft-sided water bottle. It's an excellent lightweight bottle and it matches my bag!

An old 0.5L Sigg style water bottle being brought back into service, as it just fits well in my small EDC messenger bag, plus my 0.4L aLoksak as reserve capacity for longer hikes or when out with my dog.

With summer coming up, I needed a decent condensation solution (when filling up at refrigerated water fountains) and found this little multi-purpose gem - a beverage "sweater".... or maybe anti-sweat-er ;).

    That looks brand new!

I'll have to take a pic of my Starbucks stainless steel travel-mug that I take my tea in...it's got some patina!
