How have you liked the Maxpedition-Nalgene pack? I am currently debating between that and a Maxpedition USGI canteen holder and can't make up my mind
That is pretty much my set up with the Maxped 10x4 as well. First off you would have to decide whether you like the round bottle or canteen setup and then get the respective pouch. I don't think the canteen holder has any spare room to hold anything other than a canteen and nesting set (cup and stove).
I think the biggest plus for the round bottle setup is that a) there is generally more capacity and b) you can see where your water level is. I'm not too concerned about extras on the pouch, mostly just wanting to have a nice molle attachment to my pack where I can conveniently grab water while on a search, hike, etc. I have a USGI canteen but might purchase a Nalgene bottle for this purpose. I got tired of always opening my pack for a drink. Do you have a pic? Thanks
I'll have to get pics later, but mine is a stand alone kit with shoulder strap and a few pouches added. You can always get a Nalgene canteen if you want to see water levels.
sorry for the late response! my pack is condor brand. it insulates well (approx 10-12 hrs cold water halfway filled with ice) and the price is more reasonable to me than maxpedition's. the fit is right on but at the top will have vertical play and enough room to fit a maxpedition tactical can. it helps keep the shape of the pouch and allows you to use all the space at the pouch has to offer.
My daily office carry... I fill with ice/water and drink stick in the morning and it lasts all day... One issue I do have is black mold!!!! does anyone else have mold growing on the inside of their Capcap? Once it sets in it is a bugger to get clean... too many ridges and holes to scrub. Prybry
I've had that "black mold" problem with just about every cap or lid I've ever used - most recently, the stock cap on my Nalgene narrow-mouth bottle. I end up using a q-tip to reach inside the groove - a little tedious, but not horrible as periodic maintenance goes.
