(I spent a while searching, and didn't find a thread like this......hopefully I didn't just miss it) I know there are probably several photographers here (we are eeeeverywhere ), and I'd like to see your work, talk shop, hear what kind of gear you have, etc! landscape, portrait, macro, black and white, street, cityscape, long exposure, so on and so forth (probably not boudoir ) and any other style I may have forgotten. I guess I fall into the hobbyist category. Certainly not a professional, as I havent made a red cent doing this, but I love it. I do it for the artistic outlet, getting out and about, and meeting cool people. Over the last year I have mostly done cityscape and night time/long exposure stuff, but this year id like to work on some portrait stuff for a portfolio, and hopefully start making a couple cents. Here's a recent cityscape. Austin is a small city, but i think its pretty!
heres a variety sample of what ive been up to latley one of my earliest cityscapes, two camera bodies ago lol climbing to the top of construction sites to get new viewpoints was fun for a bit. Experimented with blending multiple exposures to get extreme light trails and perceived motion in clouds Steel wool/long exposure.......these trips always end up being a blast with between 5 to 10 of us going and brainstorming on how to get a cool shot. A pretty girl at a photography meetup i went to. I need to practice portrait work more. Messing around during SXSW with buddies. Had to try out a 'levitation' shot. Check out wonder woman in the back haha
I was into photography a few years ago. Sold all my gear to get married. Just getting back into it now. I have better gear, and am starting to do some more portrait stuff. Hoping to get back into weddings because I love them.
Hobbyist for sure, started 11 years ago. It's all about documenting family history for me, casual real life shots, not so into posing. I do 1 or 2 Sr. shoots for a family at church every year but that is about it. I suck at PP, don't use Photoshop, if I was good at it I would, would definitely put me at a different level. I am totally 'spray and pray', in a 3 hr outdoor Sr shoot I can easily take 1000 shots, trim down to about 75 for them to go through, end up with about 35 shots that I process for them. I have had my Nikon D700 for maybe 6 years now, had the shutter replaced (at right around 250k actuations) a few years ago, probably around 350k through it by now, slowed down after the older kids moved out, they were pretty active, snowboarding, skateboarding and dance. I also loved shooting air shows and auto racing. Much less time with 3 kids 5 and under in the house right now. Shooting TONS with the 50 1.4 and love it. https://kensingt0n.smugmug.com/Portfolio Here are some randoms; I will be back with more shots to clog up this thread later ;-)
A few recent shots of 'The Littles' in my house Some redux's Man I LOVE taking pictures of my kids...
