I've been hosting my images on my own website for years; I figured something like this was going to happen sooner than later.
Ive said it here, as well as a local gun board I am on, but the 400 is far too much. And thats PER YEAR. And what is to keep them from increasing the rates later? I think they'll back down. Too much business is being lost by this, surely they'll see this and realize their mistake. We'll see.
I stopped using Photobucket about a year ago. too slow, site maintenance, too slow! I have been using Postimage since then and it is very fast and simple to use. Courtesy of Postimage! Me with Jimi Hendrix's Dad in April and May of 2000 in Al Hendrix's home in Seattle, Wa.
I have imgur, but don't use it much except to make a meme. I always send the picture that I want to post, to myself in a text message, then save it, then post directly to the site. (sending in a text message automatically resizes it for you) that way, it's always always there for everyone to see...
I've used photobucket a good bit for basic photo hosting. No more. That's ridiculous! I didn't mind the slow speeds and the crazy ads because it was free. I won't be using it any longer.
Now they've started advertising in the old empty spots they've made by omitting our photos, just like I said in my OP. That's rediculous. Forums are going to start banning the use of pbucket links through their software even if they work just to prevent advertising.
Does anyone know if this will effect the site Tiny Pic as well? Tiny Pic is curently owned by Photobucket.
