You're gonna have to stop posting that hideous little light of yours or I'll have to buy one too even though I'm still upset with Olight for changing what was the perfect the UI
From an ergonomic point of view, holding it, the above way actually makes a lot of sense. Ditto protecting the glass when in the pocket. Or is that the regular way shown above?
Tried to make some Charcloth The result of the process was, the dishcloth (100% cotton) was shriveled to a small hard ball. Has someone some hints for me?
No Ben Rubinstein this is the Clip reverse. There is no glass to protect. The light is only as long as three of my fingers are broad, so spinning it in the hand for better operation wouldn't be a main reason to reverse the clip.
Never done it myself either but was there a hole in the tin? I understood that you don't do it in direct flame but rather in coals for a slow dehydration of the cloth and turning it to char? perhaps the label on the dishcloth was lying?
They slightly increased the time you have to keep the button pressed to go from off to moonglow, but the biggest change is to the memory modes. Originally it had full memory mode for moonglow, low, medium and high but they canceled memory on moonglow altogether and set the memory mode to ten minutes for the other modes if I remember correctly. This means that the light always comes on in low once it's been turned off for ten minutes or more. I wish they hadn't done that, moonglow might just be my most used mode and I like to be able to pre-set the mode it comes on in in certain situations. But most people will probably prefer the new UI or otherwise they wouldn't have changed it. Ben Rubinstein, the S1 uses a TIR lens unlike it's predecessor, it's pretty bomb proof. & about the funny look; nothing an axle grinder or even a file couldn't fix if it bothers you
I just saw your other post. A hole in the tin helps but is not necessary perse. I suspect you used a synthetic cloth instead of natural fibers from your result Patrick87.
About the mode of the S1. I'm testing the resetting of the mode right at the moment. Will tell you my result in 10 minutes. Full memory wouldn't be my favorite UI. Normally I use the moonlight mode only when I get up in the morning for work. I don't want to wake up my wife. My preferred mode is the low-mode, therefore it's the main mode. Only if the object is to far away I use the high-mode. About the char-cloth. The tin has a hole in the top. I tried the same thing with an towel that consisted of 100% polyester, which worked better than the 'cotton' thingy.
After waiting a few minutes I can confirm the mode loss in the memory. Good thing that i use the low mode most often.
Same here... Considering that the only mode not available from "off" is Medium, it's not too bad. edit: well, no strobe from off either I guess... and I've had trouble getting strobe to turn on but I don't think I'll ever use it anyway.
IMO the strobe is a bit useless. Some may see it another way but i think 500lm are way too less for an effective strobe for personal defense. Only time i use it, is to annoy my co-workers.
strobe and signal modes are not useless! Do you know how many munchkin dance parties I have started with my blinkies? ***techno music fades in***
That is true I guess, still wish they hadn't changed it though (but I'll probably buy one anyhoe). I would prefer a beacon-mode over a strobe mode personally, but neither would be fine too
the only thing I've found they do is blind me when they accidentally get turned on one of my favorite EDM songs for your dance party
