I have stopped for over a year now. I will hopefully be moving before long and I plan to start again. I just don't have enough workspace for my different projects/hobbies.
If you get a choice, dedicate at least a 10x10 room for workshop purposes. I have one with a large closet, and it's barely enough to hold all my crap. A shed is also a nice alternative, if you can keep it heated and cooled. I want something like that, eventually.
