    Hi all,

I have a fixed American Tanto custom made by a local maker 17 years ago. (Dear Lord I feel old), So after all this time and all these misadventures the scales were it's weak point. Never liked them ever. So today I took them off and removed the pins. I'm gonna get it Bead blasted and probably try etching the blade.

So when I get to this point I want to wrap the hilt in ParaCord, would one of you that seems to exude this talent please try to tell me the best way to wrap it without having a permanent tail on the Pommel end. Thank you!
Also I plan to do something like Lacquer the cord when I finish, this is a cutter not a looker.

you could wrap the handle with another piece of cord long ways down the handle, and use that to pull the tag end into the handle under the other wraps when doene

I'm no expert, but this is how I wrapped my Mini Tac

Its pretty much the same cobra weave done for bracelets but wrapped around a knife handle instead of paracord

Brew up a fresh pot of coffee and enter "paracord knife handle wrap" into the YouTube search field.

Or swing for the fences and make up some micarta...

Search for Stormdrane's channel and subscribe. There are several more but I think that's the best.I need a "rewind 10 seconds" button when using any paracord video. I think it's amazing there are folks who just get it like that.

C'mon War, you can do it! :p

Just kidding. You can also try www.instructibles.com. There are tons of paracord projects there
    http://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/?sort=none&q=paracord+bracelet
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Paracord-bracelet-with-a-side-release-buckle/

The link is for bracelets, but as per pics I did the same cobra weave on the handle.
Just pulled paracord through a hole in the handle and weaved towards blade. You can also work the other way

Thanks! That looks like I can do that. Also when finished I'm gonna dip it in Marine grade finish. So it'll pretty well be on there for good. Thanks again for the help!

Yes, this would be more appropriate in its own, new thread here in DIY Mods sub-forum. How about starting new thread, something like: "Long-term effects of weather on paracord?" (sorry, I can't do it for you).

Since it's a tanto blade, maybe go with something like this. They used gutted paracord. Looks real Japanese to me. I'm not sure about paracord, but I've always had really good luck using Shellac on twine wrapped stuff.
