You have to be careful picking knives and shirts. Some of the more aggressively textured/designed knives will quickly destroy even reinforced cargo pants in my experience.

I pretty much wear boxer shorts and a t-shirt around the house. When I want to carry a knife, I either clip to my boxers or wear a jogger's waist pack. The waist pack is very minimal and is made of a stretchy synthetic material. It is meant to hold only a phone or a wallet so a large folding knife fits well. That works for me.
