I know this is an old thread, but I don't understand the issue, when I'm backpacking/camping, I simply clip my flashlight and folder to my boxers inside the waistband at 11 and 1 o'clock while I'm sleeping. No problem walking around like that either.
Maybe it's not the best time of the year (freezing & snowing outside) to discuss short pants & T-shirt EDC carrying question - or maybe it is? When we had summer last year I experienced the same outfit and EDC issue. Problem solved hooking my keychain (which holds a ThruNite Ti3 and a Victorinox Manager besides my apartment key) with its p7 suspension clip onto the boxer short waistband. Needed to tighten the cord string a little more to prevent boxers from slipping down. Also tried a neck band to carry the EDC keychain ring this way - found it annoying to have something "bump" against my chest while walking. Waiting desperately for warmer weather - spring where are you?!?
who are you? Donald Duck? you could wear a light vest maybe.. I wear a flat cap most of the day, if I wanted I could put a nitecore tube or a photon or even some AAA light with nicer emitter and an vic classic or alox classic in that space over the brim. but you could just clip a small AAA light like the blf348 and a small light knife to your boxers or leave them on your keys. But really, you should show some self respect and wear some pants.
I hope @kensington wears pants in addition - other wise this thing looks like a tactical string tanga made out of jeans cotton - which cloud seem scary enough for some intruders even without the handgun and knife To @Otis - I know it's kind of a "sin" but a fanny pack could also be worth considering, assuming style and tacticool at home is not required.
I take the sheldon cooper approach. I have a spot (well a couple of spots) but my carefully selected tv viewing/dozing spot has a AAA and a minichamp hung off a curtain tie back hook.
Correct, it is worn underneath clothing, basketball shorts in the summer and sleep pants/sweats in the winter.
I keep my RovyVon A1 on me at all times by keeping It on a necklace as for a knife I tend to have the same issue of where to put it lol. I cant have a knife around my neck as I have small kids who would grab it. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
How about something like a pocket organizer pouch thingy that will hold both a (neck)knife and a flashlight. One could rig such a thing to be worn either around the neck or clipped to the body/inside the pants.
I had gotten away from AAA lights for a while, but when I went back to work this September, I went back to my old Olight i3s. It fits well clipped to the waistband of the pocketless shorts I sleep in. Its moonlight mode is great for not stumbling around the house in the dark. If I end up going out to get the paper in those shorts, I'll grab my keys and hang them off the waistband on their pickpocket dangler with the keys outside of the shorts. My go to light weight knife for shorts or sweatpants is my Spyderco Dragonfly.
I can think of a few possibilities: - Use a small neck pouch. Some have zipper but others are just open top and you could carry the knife and light in it - Use a neck lanyard and attach breakaway buckles to both the knife and flashlight. As long as the items aren’t so heavy to cause the buckles to just release then you should be able to pull off and clip back on easily. This could also be done with a dangler and hooked to the waistband as long as the waistband is strong enough to hold - a buddy pouch that is designed for runners whose clothes don’t have pockets. It clips onto the waistband. - If your waistband is not strong enough to hold the items, then possibly a running belt. These are like a soft stretchy belt with a built in pocket - Instead of boxers get athletic shorts with pockets to wear.
Me too and was gonna chime in since I have 2 I wear time to time but I think a sporran would look funny with just boxers.
My solution is to wear a Outdoor Edge Para Claw, w/a ferrocerium toggle on my right wrist. Until a couple of weeks ago, I was wearing a Surefire signature 2211 wrist light/watch on my left wrist. Now I'm rocking a Hamilton khaki field watch with a Suunto Clipper compass and a "special operations mini LED clip light" like the ones at Flashing Panda. Underneath the watch is a ceramic razor blade and a handcuff key. I do however miss the lumens of the 2211. So, even if I am completely undressed I still have a knife and a light, and a way to start a fire. Edited to add: I upgraded the light to the MecArmy CPLU, watchband light. It puts out more light than the "Special operations mini LED clip light." It will match the output (supposedly) of the 2211, for about two minutes. My major issue is the mounting clip. The only way that I can keep the light from sliding around on my watchband is by buckling the watchband, then slide the CPLU on to the free end before it goes into the first keeper, then through the second keeper, then doubled back and tucked, so that the CPLUis sitting on top of the tongue of the buckle.
My carry in situations like that is usually a SAK and a small keychain light like the Nitecore Tiki or a RovyVon Aurora. One of the thinks that make it easy with these is that they both have a keyring. I’ve done it two ways when not having a pocket. One option is using a pocket dangler from the waistband with them clipped onto it via a Nite-Ize Microlink or small s-biner. The other option is using a neck lanyard that has a clip.
