Yeah, that seems to be the basis for their random sales, an unhappy customer who they like to point out is unhappy and why they really do not care. I do not think that will ever change for them. I have wanted to participate in the last couple of 25% off sales but do not forsee my Rigid Cobra Duty Belt ever wearing, after almost a year of daily use it still looks new and is still stiff as well. Super quality product.

I can't say enough good things about SOE gear. I understand your frustrations with their customer service, but you're coming at it with the wrong set of expectations. This isn't a company needing to please everyone with great service. John has built bomb-proof gear for warriors going on around 25 years. They have just recently come into more of the civilian market eye in the last few years. They have more business than they know what to do with. They are great to deal with, you just have to understand how they do things. I've got an order in for my company right now that I'm hoping to see in the next few weeks. Here's my last purchase, an SOE Peltor wrap:

    This thread is amazing.

I have never seen a group of individuals defend poor/non-existent customer service with such fervor. Why? Is this John a personal drinking buddy or does he give a discount for people who defend him?

Or, we acknowledge - cheerfully acknowledge, that this company has less than stellar customer service. However, in the same breath, there are a good number of customers who view that as a small price to suffer for the quality of merchandise produced.

If a person views customer service as paramount before doing business with a company, clearly that person should look elsewhere. If, however, that person is less concerned about customer service and more concerned with an exceedingly well-built product, then they don't mind the lack of customer service so much. It's all about relative priorities.

Now, if SOE had horrible customer service and a sub-par product, the company success might be more of a mystery.

I think this is a mischaracterization of what I said. I didn't defend poor/non-existent customer service, I merely explained the reality of buying from OSOE.

While they don't suffer silliness well- like not following directions or changing your mind AFTER you order- they build, arguably, the very best gear... gear for people who really need it. You have to weigh the good and bad and come to a decision as to how much "eccentric behavior" you are willing to deal with.

Moreover, if you are a part of the professional protector class, they will bend over backwards to assist you. And, they have a warranty that is unheard of in tactical nylon.
