I am actually going to the post office here in a few to get an estimate about shipping internationally. It is more expensive (the last one in a small bubble wrap envelope cost almost $10 USD to send to Europe), so I may have to amend it to have the customer pay part of international shipping (certainly not all), and if insurance is desired, that will cost extra. I will report back as soon as I return. Thanks!

It might work out cheaper to send a "bulk" parcel of coins to a European member, and for them to then send them out individually from Europe ??

This might be a great option if there is anyone who is willing to and will be able to ship coins to others in Europe. Shipping them in a regular envelope instead of padded will bring the cost down, but I worry about someone feeling a "coin" and thinking hmmmmm. Any volunteers to distribute to European members?

While I agree with the idea, at least here in Germany, a problem with this approach would be import fees / taxes - if the combined value (including shipping) of a package from overseas is above €22.- (with the current exchange rate, roughly one-to-one in regard to $) - or €45.- if declared as a gift -, we have to pay Einfuhrumsatzsteuer, similar to our VAT, of 19%. If the combined value is above €150.-, there are additional customs fees.
Depending on the quantity of coins in a given parcel, this could well defeat the purpose of the idea, as counter-intuitive as it is to favour several small transactions each with their own shipping costs over a single larger one.

Yes, the finishes are in antique gold, copper or silver; they are not of the pure metals, which would make them very costly.

Ah, I see. So Option 2 is probably best, then.

At least for Germans, I am afraid, aye.
But other European countries may have different, more import-friendly regulations and / or a lower VAT, so Option 1 is still not completely off the table for all of us Europeans. :)

Or maybe somebody has friends at the customs office ... ;)

We have import fees here in Sweden too, that and quite hi costs to send parcels if you compare to other countries.

It's not failure if you learn something from it
