Quick question, here is a pic of my orange monster, notice how the timer has the first 15 minutes also in Orange? Is it authentic? I see none of the pics posted shows one like it?
Answer is kind of mixed. Yes, it is authentic. No, it is not an orange monster. You've got an srp483k1 (the k1 refers to shipping on a bracelet) which is a Seiko 5 series dive watch, nicknamed a "mini-monster". An orange monster is a seiko dive watch (not 5 series) model skx781 (plus various k# for straps)
I think it depends a lot on commitment level.... likewise whatever threshold would be involved before your friends had you committed. ATB, Sam

Now that you mention it, I think you are possibly right. . . From memory, there was a long argument over on WUS as to whether or not the 007 Ks might be less reliable than the Js. If I remember correctly, there ended up being strong evidence that they were the same watch: markings aside, they were both being manufactured primarily in (was it?) Taiwan. The K and J indicated what market the watch was intended for, not where it was made. So, any superiority of the J model was myth. There were still plenty of dissenters who insisted that no, it was manufacture not market and the J was better. Good catch, thanks for triggering that for me. The last number is still the bracelet, though .
Honestly you either have the gumption to wear it as a dress watch or you don't If you like it, wear it. If you wearing an orange monster is a problem with someone I wouldn't worry about it, you could have a worse problem like they do with that stick up their $@@/*
I have a new model black monster on a bracelet. The bracelet is top notch with solid ends. I still like my SARG way better. As for it being a dress watch, who cares? If it makes you happy, wear it! (as long as you can get your cuff over the beast). In a classical sense, a monster is most definitely not a dress watch, but plenty of people wear Submariners, Planet Ocean's, and other "sport" or tool watches in a suit so why not a Monster?
