Did you refinish the handle? Looks great.

Thank you. Yes. I reshaped and stainEd the handle and leather pouch, patinaed the blade by embedding it in an onion overnight.
#8 for the weekend!
Indeed! This has become my favourite cardboard chopper.

My Victorinox kitchen knives aren't getting the attention they deserve anymore.
#8 fresh out of the sharpener.
Has anyone bought/seen these? Pretty easy to mod to make it nice and pointy. Plastic ftw!
As I know that is the Opinel Outdoor Junior because of the blade design. Handle is fiberglass reinforced polyamide inclusive a whistle and a lanyard hole.
There are other models available with fiberg lass reinforced polyamide handles ...
- The No. 09 DIY with two screwdriver tips and wire cutter/stripper
- The No. 08 Outdoor with serrated blade, whistle and lanyard hole
- The No. 12 Explore with 2nd blade and lanyard hole
I don´t have an Opinel with fiberglass reinforced polyamide handles. Sometimes I think it would be practical to have a water resistant handle at an Opinel. And sometimes I think an Opinal needs to have a wooden handle and a carbone steel blade to be a real Opinel
I agree! Wood & carbon... Ok maybe S/S too...
... and... I personally dont like any of the above!
Its a little ugly but I love the fact it can be tossed in water and cleaned no worries. Other than that, I agree, wood and carbon steel is best.
Those carbon steel Opinel blades get SHARP!
I dont have a photo of the opinel alone, but removed some of the meterial from the sides and glued on scales made of panga panga wood, and also re-shaped the handle.
Gave it a semi satin-semi polish finish, Im thinking of changing it to patina because I live in a humid area.
