Based on my extensive knowledge, which I gained from in-depth experience of watching Naked and Afraid and The Walking Dead... a really good knife if the environment is warm. Fire-making if the environment is cold.

Speaking of people who will rescue you, saw on the news about the insurance company who's policy promises to perform a medical rescue of you from anywhere except North Korea.

    Edit: geographically and politically challenged

    Good sheath Knife.

I know I should say other stuff but I just wouldn't want to be without one.

There was an interesting article on AoM a while back saying that a kindle stocked with survival and how to books with a solar charger could well be your best friend in a long term survival situation unless you are a hard core survivalist with the necessary experience.

Realistically (and hopefully) no one is ever going to find themselves in this exact scenorio, well unless you sign up for that TV series. Lol

Even if you were on a commercial plane and it crashes in a remote location, assuming that you survived, you'll still be able to find a range of items just within the cabin/carry on bags etc to help you survive. Ideally you'd likely find a knife in the hold but let's assume that that were still out of bounds.

Thats why i put this in the break room i almost always have an Altoids kit when walking in a place i could get lost at. Yea if you survived the crash you could live off the peanuts for at least a week.

By rambo knife do you mean one with a hollow handle well i guess it depends on the brand i have heard that they break easily though
i did see on that was forged out of one piece of metal that might be stronger.

I hate to take this to the practical and semi serious but the hardest thing I have found to make out of natural materials is a container to boil water. So I would go with my trusty old canteen cup.

I could make a useable knife out of the handle if I had no better option. Friction fire can be made many ways. We all know how to provide everything else from nature.

Although I like the Kate Upton thought I doubt she would talk to one of us even then.

I guess a sat phone to call for an air lift home would not be in the spirit of the question.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul. I guess that makes me just a giant Peter.

I would have my Granfors Bruk small forest axe. It chops quite well, cut like a knife and can be used to build shelter, make a fire bow, make charcoal from the fire, make a water filter with the charcoal and sand, make a bowl to retrieve water and another to receive water from the filter, make snares, make a spear for fishing, etc.

Still haven't seen anything that beats my fully equipped fire truck, tho having the Kate Upton option would make for a difficult decision.....

This^. The hardcore bushcraft folks would take a good bushcraft axe over a knife. Those are the skills I'd want in such a situation.

Naked and afraid? A massive pile and pertex body suit. Pretty sure you'd get hypothermia before you could come close to whittling anything useful to keep you warm.
