You could keep a small tool bag in the cab with such tools/ weapons as screwdrivers, couple of med-large wrenches, hammer, all kinds of "tools". Unless there is a law against tool bags in the cabs of vehicles.
Baseball bat or tire iron, sock of quarters for tolls, razor edged ice scraper, pepper spray, mini can of WD40 or other lubricant or deicing spray or whatever... bunch of D: size batteries (for your maglite)... There's lots of nice stories of people beating off would-be carjackers with "The Club" and similar things. You can also carry stuff like chain link or small pry bars without much scrutiny. Basically ask yourself - what would be useful in your normal job then remember the golden rule - if it is long, it is a blunt instrument weapon. If it has an edge, it can be used to cut or chop. If it has mass, it can be a thrown projectile, if it fits in your fist, it is a handload... Also consider - are you thinking about fighting in cab or out of cab?
High lumen light & a screwdriver will go a long way....blind 'em with the light, then strike or stab. Do you deal with boxes or tape? Utility knife. Not to encourage anything illegal....but, if it came to life or death, I'll use what I feel like using to save my life. Then, you can fire me. If it were me, and it was legal to carry where I was traveling, I would get a concealed weapons permit, and I would have an LCP 380 in a Desantis Pocket Holster. Looks like a wallet impression. But again, only if legal. If not, the light & the screwdriver are a good start.
Locale - Wisconsin Thinking about having to fight in the cab, hence the thought for jabbing weapons - most damage capability for the least amount of movement. The mag light will be a must I feel. Was at Menards yesterday and saw a tire repair kit - T shaped handle with about a 3" spike that was roughed to clear a hole in a tire to fit a plug. Thought that would make a gnarly wound if need be.
A little heads up, stab wounds are pretty ineffective at stopping fights. Many people who are stabbed don't even realize it until after the fight is over. Your better off with things like eye irritants, and pain/force multipliers.
Well, inside the cab, you may not have the room to swing the Maglight to get much on it. Amacman is correct, eye irritants will give you an advantage...maybe wasp or bee spray on the door, can also be used if someone approaches your door. If not that, even cheap cologne, anything with alcohol. Even a small fire extinguisher would work as a striker, or sprayer, though in close quarters, there's always a risk of blowback. Sounds like a grappling situation, so perhaps a kubotan, with some training. There are also books & YouTube videos on how to use it. Tactical pens in the visors AND shirt pocket, etc. They also make belt buckles that have 'T'-handled knives contained within...no one would know & it would be within reach while seated. Like I said, if I have to stab someone to save my life, a co-worker's life, etc., fine...fire me. I bet if you saved your bosses life with a weapon, you wouldn't get fired
Someone posted this link a while back, great info on self defense without a blade or gun. http://www.donrearic.com/impacttools.html Here is the full site, there is some cool info on knives, survival kits, etc. It is an old site but full of great stuff - http://www.donrearic.com/main.html

Dale gribbels "pocket sand" seemed effective haha. Fill a designated pocket with a sand pepper mix. Or a jar, cup holder ect.
Regarding the fire extinguisher - there are some that are gas only - no powder. Still, getting sprayed in the face with something that is designed to rob oxygen might be effective. Regarding saving your bosses life - don't count on it. Remember the lady that got prosecuted by Baskin & Robbins for giving local police a discount. If they had thought about it, having a bunch of LEO's in your shop would definitely reduce your robbery risk, but they knee-jerked and initiated prosecution for lost profits.
Get a straight razor, go old school. You can get an ew production one or old school refurb one. Some of them have a zero V grind aka a wedge.
A walking stick or cane can be used ANYWHERE, even on an airplane. If someone questions you about it, ask them if they are discriminating against you because of a physical ailment. Discussion over.
