SS tubing I had in my pile of stuff.
The ink came from a BIC pen.
I had a tube cutter in my pile of stuff.

Looking good! Do you have something in mind for a cap?

Good point. I can't think of anything except maybe a little hose? Any ideas are welcome.

this is inspiring! i might have to give this a try.

you could use a slightly larger gauge of tube for a cap, but how to hold it on? maybe a short section of heat-shrink tubing from your electronics store?

    A few ideas:

a short length of surgical tubing - it would grip better than the heat shrink cap, but it could still be easily pulled on and off

the cap of the pen from which you obtained the ink cartridge - may double the length of the pen, though

a slightly larger diameter of steel tubing - this has already been mentioned, but, to get a friction fit, you could slightly crush the cap so that it would be slightly elliptical

If you could groove the end of the pen and find some tiny o-rings to put in the grooves it should work pretty well to retain a slighty larger-diameter SS cap. A few very small notches around the body might substitue for actual grooves.

Or, you could use a black Bic retractable tip by using the cartridge, spring, top button and end. If the SS tube was the same diameter as the pen you would really need a cap.

There is a mod-guide on this idea somewhere but for the world i can't find it right now. Basically, retractable Bic pens are pretty simple. You seem like a resourceful type. You could probably work it out in short order. It would just essentially be replacing the plastic body with a SS one...

    It's a thought...lol
