put together a little grab & go kit for my F1 after I scored one of Eric's kydex sheathes (onscenetactical.com)

F1 in sheath w/ LMH Army firesteel and ~ 15' of paracord

added a small Maxped strobe pouch and secured through the wrapped paracord w/ a malice clip (can be easily removed if I don't want the "kit" portion)

Contents besides the knife, paracord and firesteel

    AMK heat sheet
    ranger band
1 liter twist & go water bag
    4 micropur water tablets
    Suunto button compass *
    Fox micro whistle *
    Photon light *
    * all three on a lanyard that can be put around your neck
    5 tinder tabs
    2 wetfire tinders
    mini bic lighter

This is a genius setup, mtwarden. I dig it!

Let me ask you this ... did you do the paracording wrap setup yourself? It looks like it was custom wrapped to accomodate the malice-clipped kit attachment.

You know, I've seen other F1 kits on the internet that use Maxpedition's Single Sheath

    http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/SINGLE-SHEATH-9p187.htm

.... but I like your strobe pouch option a little better. I think the key to the ideal pouch attachment to a sheath kit it to have it streamlined, not bulky, aesthetically-pleasing, and most importantly ... capable of carrying a decent quantity of gear. That Single Pouch option is a bit limiting to me.

    Very nice!

    thanks

I wrapped the cord first- the gap in the front is where the belt clip resides on the back side- as luck would have it, the paracord did align pretty well for the malice clip- chalk one up to luck :)

I have one of the maxped single sheaths that I use w/ one of Martin Swinkels sheaths- it's a very easy fit (two velcro attachments), the single sheath is a little less volume so I have to use a little less kit- namely it won't fit the AMK heatsheet (I've tried pretty hard :))

the single sheath is a little more streamlined however, but still big enough to hold some useful bits

Great small emergency kit with some of the basic essentials. Packaging the kit with the knife sheath is a great idea.

thank you Sir- my thinking behind these knife "kits" is that if I were ever separated from my pack (day hiking or backpacking) god forbid, I'd at least have a few minor bits on my person to help get me through a night- fire, shelter, procure/treat water, signal and navigate

Mtwarden ... is onscenetactical.com still in business? Their website looks rather odd. Dead links, missing pictures, etc.
