Me too. I like heavy knives. I also like widw knives. That being the main reason I dont carry most of my knives. Most have too thin a blade for my taste.

I usually prefer to EDC smaller and lighter knives, but there's certain times I want a heavier knife I can just beat the snot out of. Right now that knife is my Tenacious. The Cryo looks like even more of a tank, for about the same price.

No, no the is proportionate to the prominence of the reviewer. My little site is still a small potato. Low profile, low QC.

The point with the amazon reviews is a good one, but even if the f and f was up to snuff, the knife would have still received a less than stellar review and score. Too many misses. I am carrying the kershaw zing SS right now, same materials, same company, roughly the same price (a little less for the zing) and it is a better knife is almost every way. I still have a few more things to do with it, but right now it is well ahead of the Cryo at the same point of my testing.

Funny how everyone has different taste. I dont care for the Zing. Good thing there is such a wide selection to choose from.

I can't speak to the Cryo but I've found the other reviews I've read on EDC Commentary to be well considered and interesting. If there are QC issues with the initial run of the Cryo, hopefully Kershaw will make it right as production ramps up. I have a few Kershaws and feel like the Skyline in particular is a nice blend of design, steel and value. I'm looking forward to the Zing review because it's an interesting looking knife with a novel blade shape.

I actually like the focus on blade length to weight ratio in the reviews, if not the score itself. It's something I think about when selecting a knife because I tend to bias towards lighter weight. Others, could care less about an ounce or so.

I had a Cryo for a few weeks and gave it away.
I my option the RAT-1 blows this knife away in just about every category but the great pocket clip on the Cryo and maybe the frame lock.
    RAT-1:
    • Blade Length 3.5 inches
    • Knife Closed Length 4.5 inches
    • Knife Open Length 8.5 inches
    • Liner lock
    • Weight 5 ounces
    • AUS-8 Steel
    Cryo:
    • Blade Length: 2 3/4 inches
    • Knife Closed Length 3 3/4
    • Knife Open Length 6 1/2
    • Weight 4.2 ounces
    • Speed safe and flipper opening systems; Frame lock locking system
    • Steel: 8Cr13MoV
(Just one guys thoughts your mileage may differ)
I have quite a few knives and the RAT-1 is one of my all time favs for the money or three times that....

The clip on the Cryo is secured by two TX 6 screws. I destroyed a cheapie torx driver trying to remove one of them. Ordered a Wera TX 6 to get the job done right. :p Now that I think about it, was supposed to take a picture of that for a forum member..

EDIT: My Cryo gets used at work cutting trailer shoring straps. Faster to cut a strap than call a maintenance guy that will eventually do the same thing ten minutes later. I wanna go home on time! :frantic:

I've got a Cryo, and even though the blade isn't perfectly centered, I still like the knife .. I won't trade it away anytime soon

When my 11 year old son saw mine he said "where did you get that sexy knife?". He has a good eye!

Has anyone found this knife at an acceptable price? I can only find it for basically double its MSRP. Thank you.

Ha..It's a great knife for $30! Been using it everyday for a few months now and it's held up great. About time for it's first sharpening job as a matter of fact.

I found a perfect way to test this knife. A buddy of mine is a certified tug boat captain. He's passed the test but isn't a captain of a ship yet in the Gulf Coast, Mexico, South America area. So basically he's all over the ship while getting more experience and eventually getting to be the captain of a tug. I gave him a Kershaw Cryo right from my pocket (one I had been carrying) to put through torture. Salt water, cutting all types of rope/cords and who knows what else they do on tugs. Next time I see him I'll post his thoughts on the knife and hopefully some pics of how it's held up assuming he doesn't lose it.

Finally picked one up to at MC Sports. I must say, it is more than I expected. What a great knife. Feels so good, the ergos are perfect. I'm confused about all the weight comments, though. I expected this thing to weigh like a brick with all the complaints I read. It is very light compared to what I was expecting. Doesn't weigh down my pocket at all
. Blade is well centered and locks up solid. Very satisfied.
