Yeah, but sometimes it gets a little too chilly for my taste. I have family in both DJ and Fairbanks, so I make my way north a few times a year.

You guys get around more than I do... I've been to Anchorage and Valdez, although never lived there verry long.(couple weeks tops in Anchorage once) But I dunno how you guys can live in those southern parts of the state... its so Cold! I'll take -55F in Fairbanks over 25F in Anchorage etc any day... Too wet down there!

Its funny, I was born and raised here, other than 5 years in the bush as a kid(Eureka/Manley Hot Springs) I've been in the Fairbanks area my entire life; but have never been to DJ or Tok, even as close as they are...

I usually go right past Eureka, but I've stopped a time or two. They raised the speed limit to 65 MPH sometime last year for most of that stretch before Glenallen northbound!

Glenallen? Hmmm. I think I should clarrify which Eureka I mean... :) I keep forgetting that somewhere in the last 40 years since my folks homesteaded there/25 years since we've lived there, that they changed the official name, and that another area is now commonly known as just "Eureka". This area is now officially "Eureka Creek" Old timers get it mixed up with Kantishna, since that area was called Eureka once too, at the same time Eureka Creek area was just Eureka...

But anyway, its about 20 miles east of Manley on the Elliot highway, northwest of Fairbanks.

Duh...?:( "Manley Hot Springs" should have been my clue. As well as the whole "Bush" part, as that is usually off-highway. Thanks for that little bit of a history lesson! Another Alaska History tid bit!

Curious question for you akdiesel...where does the 'diesel' part come from in your user? Just curious...?
