Scored me one on clearance!
Do you think this item is going to be discontinued by Gerber? Hmmmm... I wonder...
I didn't see it anywhere at my local Target...they had a rack of Gerbers and Leathermans but I did not see the Artifact anywhere!
I've been to my local Target both before and after Christmas and they didn't have any Artifacts either time. There wasn't even a space for where they were. I think they stopped selling them. I'm glad I bought a spare in November.
Check out your nearby Target.Gerber Artifact is down to $ 4.77
I just looked on Friday... my local Target carries nary a one.
My local Target has them. But considering that the flimsy lock for the razor blade snapped off the very first time I opened it, I'd rather spend extra on an Atwood prybaby or do without the dedicated bottlecap-opener; and just get one of the prybars that County Comm sells.
Where can be found an Atwood Prybaby for $ 4.77 ?????????????????
Wow... that sucks. I can't even imagine how that would happen... it's just a flat spring. Bad QC at the materials supplier I guess. Fortunately, mine has proven itself worth much more than the $10 I spent on it.
I gotta second this...mine is very dependable.
Oh it wasn't the flat spring. It was the tiny detent ball that snapped off the very first time I opened the blade. When it broke, I wasn't in the mood to replace it. Eventually got a couple prybars from County Comm. Figured with no moving parts, there's nothing that can break.
I just don't know if i would like the blade on it....
It's just as easy to not put a blade in the holder.
ah, that makes sense. Yeah as a straight prybar, the widgy is tough to beat. I keep mine in a bag though because the front edges are sharp enough to tear through my pockets!
oh I LOVE it. It's certainly not a general purpose pocketknife, but when you need an X-acto blade, nothing else will do. Except a scalpel. I'm in love with it because I often need an X-acto, and finally have a safe and convenient way to carry one! Those plastic caps that come on the normal blade holders break entirely too easily, lemmetellya.
Well......I've had my Artifact for a while now and it gets quite a bit of use considering it's in my pack and not in my actual EDC group. The exacto, philips bit and prybar end are what I use most. I have a County Comm Pico and a 5 1/2 " prybar from my local hardware that is identical to the Pico except it has two pry ends like the big boy prybars with one end at 90 degrees to the bar. Sometimes when prying off small pulleys you need two pry bars ya know? Back to the Artifact......I've found three blades that will fit with out modifying the Artifact, which makes it more versatile. And I still stand behind my previous statement about having a tool I am not affraid to use due to the price. An atwood would be nice to display, but at their prices, not for practical use in my opinion. My Artifact still gets 4 out of 5 stars as far as being a practical and useful pack or EDC must have.
Picked one up today at Target for 8 bucks. I had to rearrange my key set up a bit but I am happy and cant wait to put it to work.
They are all gone from the target and sports auth.
I haven't seen one in a Target near me since last summer.
The Target in my area put them on sale and cleared them out. They have not restocked the Artifact although they are restocking other gerber items. I recently went to Dick's Sporting Goods and they have the Artifact on sale for about 6 dollars. If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods by you, you may want to check them out. Mine actually had several deals going on - I presume they are clearing out old stock for new items.
