1: NO (Pals is nice but could live without. Velcro is unnecessary for me)
I like the idea of a reversible beaver tail, might want to consider G hooks as the attachment system, lighter/smaller, etc.
4. ~ Got a problem with this one. If the beaver tail only attaches to the pack at the top and bottom, then I don't think I have a use for this one as I can see no way of putting anything in it as it is likely to fall out. If there are attachment points to connect it to the pack at the sides as well (1-2 per side), then I might be able to use it for sticking in a jacket or jumper. I think my answer though is still likely to be "No" as 20% more for just somewhere to stick my jacket is quite a lot. I may be missing the point of the beaver tail as I don't realy know what it is for.
Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of those pouches in the video as I'm unable to find them when I do a web search.
I'm probably not getting the name right. I've tried Motraskya, Metroskya, Matroskya, but none of those finds anything.
Didnt watch the video, but try searching this on google
matryoshka travel pouches
Ghosty, I'll get you the info on these pouches shortly.
May I ask what are the dimensions of the pack?

Those pouches will make re-purposing hydration pockets much easier thanks to the central hook.
Adrian the pack is 18-19" tall, 11" wide at the base and it tapers to 10" at the top, and about 6 to 7" deep.
Since Dan is taking over the project and he's at the production studio right now and this is on his plate, he might revise it.
Ghosty, I will be back at my desk in a couple of hours and get u more info on the Matroskya pouches. These come in a set of 4 in black mesh, blue or red nylon or clear PVC. The name Matroskya comes from the Russian nesting dolls of old and these comes nested too thus the name. We have these available right now but with the mountain of work we have on our plates, I've been very behind in getting the word out on these.
Anyway I wanted to also take this opportunity to apologize for stepping back from this project. I am swamped with development and production well into next year and these last 2 months have seen things explode in terms of demand. Some of you already know what we do and know that our workload is directly proportional to any increase in 'drama' out there in the world.
But trust me, you're in good if not better hands with Dan at the helm of the project!
Intentional pun or not, that's funny.
Ok, just watched the video with sound, and now I am really excited for this pack!! Any idea on colors that might be offered once in production?
We are looking at around 18 liters?
OK,thus far the trend is as follows.
1.Velcro/PALS is not a "Must have" feature (I will try to incorporate it in a novel way however so you can have the best of both worlds)
2.Clamshell opening is not a necessity if it comes at the expense of a full size Nalgene holder. (Im trying to do both)
3.Beavertail is clearly desirable and I will incorporate a very functional one.
4. The "CCW" pocket is not a must have.
Also find the pouches interesting and having a hard time locating them. If you could let me know too or start a thread on them, that would be awesome.
Yeah. I am glad to here 1, 2, & 4, but 3 intrigued me
I have been lurking on this thread now for a few weeks....definintely interested in the final version of this bag and its cost.....so far it is very desireable for me!
I do have one concern. It looks to me like the main compartment may not be very deep in the video. I would hope it would be at least 5" to accommodate items and whatever you may place in those zip pouches.
