Ia am going to purchase a good single cell 18650 or 26650 light for both family cars. Decided a floody lightbeam is most useful for cars when the keychain light is not enough. Considering the Thrunite TC20 and. Lumintop ODF30C. Anyone using either of these lights? Opinions please. Recommendation are welcomed. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I personally think the Malkoff MD2 w/hi lo ring is an ideal all around bulletproof outdoor light that fits well in a car console. Great combo of hotspot throw and wide enough spill to be be useful in most situations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I keep a 2-AA light (Olight T25) in my truck. 18650 batteries don't do do well in extreme heat. Also, it's easier to find AA batteries or keep a stash. I replace the batteries every year and haven't had any issues in 6-7 yrs.
Personally I'd go for an easily rechargeable 18650 torch that you can connect to the vehicle, that way you can always top it up whilst driving. I like the older Olight R lights for that, their magnetic docking base is great, S30R is a great light.
Don't any of y'all find using a headlamp say for a tire change is effective? L'chaim! Moshe ben David
Oh yes but I guess that the majority of folk overlook them due to their size/shape/straps? Best comprise I've found is to carry a single elastic head strap with loop that a 'normal' torch can be pushed into.
I find it a lot easier to get any work done if I can use both hands. The only compromise is that I had to have thought about it and stuck an extra HL and batteries in the car.
I carry an 18650 angle light with a magnetic tail cap and clip. I can clip the light onto a headband (if I can find it), a hat, or clothing to wear on my person. Alternately, I can also stick it onto a metal surface of my vehicle.
Thing is, they are most useful in a vehicle at unanticipated times, e.g., flat tire at night, fuse problem at night, etc.! Or at least that has been my experience. Consider it a corollary to Murphy's Law: A headlamp would prove most useful when it is not available! L'chaim! Moshe ben David
I purchased a pair of 2-stage rechargeable 500-lumen rectangular utility lights with a retractable stand from Costco. This is the model with the giant single LED. They've been quite useful.
Good old fashion maglite led with 3 d batteries they last forever and just throw 3 extra d batteries in glove compartments you'll be fine.
Unless you need a weapon, Maglites are outdated. My 2 AA light replaced my 3 D cell Maglite in my truck years ago and never missed it again.
times have moved on.. throw a astrolux s43 for 1x18650 or sofirn sp36 for 3x18650 in your glovebebox if you want a powerful light with usb charging. or even a cheap light like the zanflare f1. all will turn your old maglite to ashes. if you want a modern flashlight with a big old batterytube/club attached to it, look at the convoy L6. And these are only the budget quality options
