Ironside I had the opportunity to try Muk Tuk once, it was offered to me by an elder in Tuktoyaktuk. As you likely know having experienced the culture it would have been considered very disrespectful to not accept the offer. Definitely not something I would seek out to try again. The char, caribou, and Muskox were all delicious though.
Ironside, Thank you very much for explaining the Canadian foods. My family often has an opportunity to eat about French food, Italian food, Chinese food, Korean food. However, I don't know a restaurant which provided the Canadian foods around here. I have never seen a poutine before, so I searched the image in Google. Very interesting. I have never seen a seal and muktuk as well. I think these foods are not sold except a shop specializing in selling foods of foreign countries in Japan. The maple syrup is sold widely in Japan. We eat a lot of it spread on a toast or a griddlecake. Japanese people love the maple syrup! It is too difficult to cook the Canadian food for me, but I think that you are very good at the cooking of the Japanese food, so I recommend the very delicious food which you can easily cook in your house. Have you eaten the Curry and rice, Japanese style? The foodstuffs are chicken thigh, onions, carrots, rice and a package of the curry like the following pictures. How to cook was printed on the back of the package. Please try it if you have a chance. Even I can easily cook! It is very, very good to know the Canadian food for us. Thank you again!
Thanks for the suggestion. I make a type of curried chicken all the time. I don't want to give the impression we Canadians are all eating seal and muk tuk all the time. They are part of the food culture for some people in the North and I have be fortunate enough to try them when I went to the arctic. I have a beautiful stone handled ulu knife from that time that is made for cutting up game such as muktuk and eating it. Too large to EDC though!
It's nice to hear that. My wife cooked it for we family. She cut a carrot into decorative shape for this thread.
Sounds good! The steak of the Texas style and Tex Mex cuisine are popular in Japan. We family love both, of course.
I enjoy them as well, I am originally Canadian and have lived in Texas for 4.5 years. The food is amazing and you can find almost any type of food you want, but southern BBQ has to be my favorite.
It is good, oddly enough the best spots are typically little shacks hidden away, that are local secrets. They will happily share the secret though.
Thank you Nick I am newbie about Alox. Seller said that this is a Pioneer for south Africa 2010. Now I have a Classic and Pioneer. How many kind of the other recent orange Alox are there? Cadet, Farmer, anything else?
