I have a collection of capsules for batteries and some to carry things like earplugs or medicine on my keychain. Hey Nekolf I think I remember you making Takoyaki たこ焼き once. I would like to try it if I can get the special pan to cook it, but I don't have a source for octopus fresh. Is there alternative seafood you can use, like squid maybe? I love cooking things and the Takoyaki look like a challenge.
I think squid, shrimp and scallop are good for takoyaki. If you don't have seafood, pork is good too. The taste is almost same as okonomiyaki. My son don't like octopus, we use sausages for his takoyaki. Also, I think the food texture of eringi mushroom is similar to octopus. Please try them.
Haha, thank you for your compliments. I had to sell my precious legacy HDS collection to buy McGizmo lights though.
Thanks for the light- Ouch, thats gotta be hard. I'd love a McGizmo but i'd have to sell my car to get one. Edit- the "censored" smiley is replacing a 4-letter word that starts with p and means "image depicting arousing people, items or situations" and is roughly synonymous to e-rotica if you catch my meaning. I didn't realize it would be off the ok-list and i'm circumventing the censoring only to clarify that no ugly or rude word with the intent to offend or disparage was used, apologies to Nekolf and the mods for the gray-area behaviour.
You don't need to apologize to me, my friend! I know the censored smiley sometimes appears without intending. Please feel free to post here anything.
While I look for the Takamaki pan in the mean time I am trying お好み焼き. I looked it up and it reminds me in some ways to a British dish called "Bubble and Squeak" which is a kind of cabbage and potato pan cake made with added left overs (but the Japanese "grilled as you like it" seems better because of the potential toppings and cooking method). Your photos are excellent, the images of the Ti lights particularly are great - the Sundrop beam pattern is because its a mule?
I have never known the "Bubble and Squeak" but it has similar appearance to Okonomiyaki indeed. The dough of Okonomiyaki or Takoyaki is usually mixed with soup stock dashi. The soup stock dashi is very important to all Japanese foods. I don't have a McGizno Mule. That beam shot was SunDrop's. The rim due to the optics is brighter than central part and looks yellowish. Actually the inside of the rim has very beautiful tint for naked eye, and it has high color rendering index. The emitter of SunDrop should be High CRI, to me. That is exactly what a drop of sun is, IMO.
