Howdy ya'll! I've been attempting to find what I would consider to be my "perfect" edc bag. I'm interested in finding something within the 20-30L range that can double as both an edc bag (pockets, organization, etc...) and as a day bag (removeable hip belt, ability to carry a water bladder) as the need arises. In my search I've found both the PDW Shado, as well as the Kifaru Antero, both of which fit the general design of what I'm looking for. Any additional suggestions would be appreciated!

I’ve been very happy with my Vanquest Falconer 30.

I share similar priorities for my winter EDC/hiking/XC skiing pack and really like proper weight bearing 'hip belts' that can get the load off my spine for a day outdoors, yet can also Houdini disappear for EDC use as belts tend to be a :censored: for short carries and pedestrian use.

Take a look the technical hiking pack - Deuter ACT Trail 24 (or larger 30) with a stashable belt.

One piece advice with smaller packs and proper weight bearing hip belts - unless you are very short, you should look for taller pack length specs. With shorter packs (ie, under ~20" spec), when the shoulder straps (excl yoke straps) are properly adjusted, the belts usually cannot reach your hips to transfer the load off your spine. These belts tend to be more of a 'waist belt' and do more to stabilize load against your back/stomach than to transfer load onto your hips. A secondary benefit of taller/longer packs, is that their width and depth dimensions will obviously be narrower and shallower (for the same liters) resulting in a closer/higher gear CoG so you stand more upright, and also may have more elbow swing room for using trekking or ski poles.

I love my goruck gr 1. Simple rugged great clamshell design. Expensive but it's the last backpack I'll buy. Unless they entice me to buy one in every camo variation!

Triple Aught Design Litespeed or Axiom X25. Very adaptable, depending on your needs.

I’ll second that. I did a ton of going back and forth and eventually ended up choosing the Falconer 30 and I’m so glad I did.

[IMG] I like the fallraven Raven 20l
Much less tactical but does a great job and is strong but not as heavy as the offering I have from 5.11

First Tactical Tactix 0.5 Day pack. Has everything your looking for, except it does not come with a waist belt. You however can add one very easy. 27 plus liter pack. Pockets all over it. If interested i do have more pictures of the pack. [IMG]

When I get some downtime this evening I will create one. It will be my first review of something, but I will have to take a stab at it.

I'm not sure there is one for everyone, not sure there is even a perfect bag for anyone.

    There, I've said it ;)

It's either missing a feature, have stuff you don't want, it's too tactical or not tactical enough or it's too expensive, or it doesn't sit right. Everything is a compromise.

This is true, but I like the ability to have the extra space.

I have just ordered a new Mystery Ranch Rip Ruck though. Because, my search for that pack continues.
