The good news: the person who has begun sharing my bed is okay with me keeping my Glock 17 nearby while we sleep. In the past it has simply sat on the nightstand in its holster. However, she would prefer if it were concealed from plain view simply because she's still getting used to the lifestyle. Thus, as I shop around for a second nightstand to keep on my side of the bed, I'm needing a solution or system that keeps the gun accessible but hidden. No locking mechanism needed.

Each morning, depending on whether I'm carrying the 17 or the 43, I will either simply put the gun on or I go to a locking closet where I unload and store the gun in a dedicated safe. This will not be the full-time home for the gun, this is just a nook to hide it at night.

Based on the fact you mention getting another nightstand, I assume the one you currently own doesn’t have a drawer (which is where my “nightstand gun” resides.

Since you’re already planning to purchase a piece of furniture to solve the problem long-term, my short-term solution would be to simply keep it in a holster under your bed.

Cigar box, valet-type box or even a concealment book.

My spouse had a similar requirement when we began living together. May have been totally outrageous request, but I was inclined to acquiesce.

I’m not trying to be harsh or anything near that, but tell her you’d prefer her to make a sandwich every time she complains about it. Some things just need to be left to be as they always have been. If your sandwich demand is unrealistic to her then let her know it’s unrealistic to hide the pistol like she wants it. I’d buy her a gun and tell her it’s all hers to hide as she sees fit, but mine is staying where I put it.

Up next will be she wants to put a pair of shoes in the night stand drawer and needs room in the closet for more clothes. Once they know they got an inch the mile goes even quicker.

On my old PC, I had saved a site that made the best looking night stands, bookcases, etc, with hidden drawers and sections. might take some searching.

I use a tiger systems bedside holster system. It is a bar that goes between the mattress and box spring that you hook your own holster onto. You can also clip a flashlight or spare mag on it as well.

There are also tables that have concealed locations built into them. One I was looking into but never bought was Custom Chess.[IMG]
