My old no-name stone is dead. The cat had to find out what i was doing, so now the stone is in a dozen pieces on the concrete. What do you all recommend I get?

I haven't used one yet but am going to order it real soon. It's called the Spyderco Sharp Maker.

    Another vote for the Sharpmaker.

Invest in the ultra-fine rods (sold separately), takes the blade to another level of sharpness.

Have any of you guys that are recommending the Sharpmaker used other sharpening systems?
Any comparison thoughts? I also need to pickup a good compact way to sharpen.

i have never used the sharpmaker, i use the Smiths 2-3 stone sharping system about $20 at wal-mart worth every penny! it keeps my blades as sharp as i need them! it's idiot proof!

Ive used a sharpmaker, warthog, wicked edge, and apex pro, but the best compact sharpener thatll sharpen anything and make it stupid sharp is a blue/red DMT diafold, they dont break or wearout, and are fun to use. several (5 and counting) friends of mine have bought them since Ive sharpened their stuff with mine.

I've only used the Sharpmaker, so that gets my recommendation as well. I've never had a need to use anything else.

after bills I'm gonna order a Spyderco Sharpmaker. I've read up on it and watched a few videos. I'm aware that it is possible to round off the knifes tip if its used in a certain way. Seems like it's all about dialing in your technique.

Edge Pro Apex. Beats them all. For field/free hand, Falkniven DC-4.
