    Hi there,

Looking for a day pack for day trips and day hikes. I have a Max Jumbo Veripack for my EDC bag, but its not big enough for day hike. I have a Max Sitka Gearslinger and find it too small for my taste.

Aiming at the Condor 2 but also considering the Falcon II.

I have a FR-1 and 12x5 with Jetfoil to attach to it.
I have a Kelty full backpack 55Liter for weekend trips so nothing too big needed.

Any suggestions on the Condor VS the Falcon?

Do that have a large internal compartment and can it support a bladder bottle?

The condor II always seemed too short for my torso. I prefer the Falcon II, plus it clamshells open which is nice when going through your gear.

    Panzer,
Would you say the Condor was wider in the main compartment? I am a short guy 5'3" . How tall are you if you don't mind me asking.

How is the Falcon II in the area of back air circulation and how does it sit when hiking say 20 miles?

the new Xantha looks good, has some improvements over the Venture 2 I'm using. 2" taller would be nice for tall guy like me 6'1 and built in side pockets allong with raised back panel

Yeas that's what I am afraid of with the Maxpedition falcon. The back don't look designed for true hikers. Plus I see the falcon has no side pockets, for water bottles. Bummer. That Xantha is nice but at 270$ no way

Yah you can get a good hiking specific bag and a rugged molle bag like the falcon for the 270

There isn't an all in one bag. Simple as that, so be like my wife and buy more bags haha

I am not a fan of the tactical bags for hiking. I would go to an REI and check out their selection. The flash is nice, as is the Kelty redwing, and I'm sure anything by osprey would be great (I have their 65 liter atmos and love it!). Hiking specific packs are lighter weight, and IMHO are set up better for hiking gear. Also they generally have less structure so you can shove odd implements in their.

I wound up getting 36 L Ospry. Use it yesterday and it was unbelievable. Hike also 15 miles felt like nothing on my back

everydayjoe we're almost on the same page, I went to REI looked at the Stratos, CamelBak Pursuit and Gregory Z30 (32l in Large). Goal was to get a taller bag and air space between my back and bag. Last sunday I did a 12mile, 4k ft vertical hike up rock w/ the Venture2 bag and I need a change up. The bag worked, but for 5+ hours it kinda sucked. I need a change up.

Ended up w/ the Z30 for my summer hiking bag. The Z30 fit me better a and had two pockets on the waist large enough for my iphone6+. Will likely use the other side for food or my gopro. 20% off sale helped too

Only real downside to it is the fact that it had very little internal organization. If you have pouches for your gear it'll work great. Otherwise plan to buy some for the small stuff.
