My friend has a spyderco cricket
    http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=17
(Not mine, I like my Kershaw Leek)

I'm trying to sharpen it for her, I have a diamond sharpening stone and one of those "chef's choice" sharpening things (where they're set at an angle)

The blade is so small, and curves so many times I have no real idea how to sharpen it. I can't get a clean slide across the stone, I have to do it part by part, and i can't even reach parts of her blade, and its too small for the chef's choice. Any ideas?

    a small round ceramic rod,
    a rat-tail diamond sharpening rod,
a fine sandpaper #600 wrapped around a chopstick (cheapest)

any of the above is my choice

Luckily it's a plain edge, if it's a serrated edge, my choice would be down to no.2 (pricey)

Various grits of sandpaper wrapped round a round dowel or pipe.
Or you could get hold of a sharpmaker
Or - send it back to spyderco - they will sharpen it for the cost of postage

The Sharpmaker should be the only sharpener you need. It's easy to use, inexpensive, and works on serrated edges.

The Sharpmaker is awesome. You can also ship the knife to Spyderco along with a check for $5 and they'll sharpen it for you.

I generally sharpen my own blades, but with my serrated Spydies it's too easy to let them do it. I've never been disappointed with the results.
