Alright lads and ladies, I'm in need of some assistance! With Christmas approaching, I've been asked for a few things that I would like. One of the first things I thought of was a new bag! I'm looking for a backpack. That's about the main thing I have to go on, haha. I'm mainly looking for something that would make for a good overnight/two night or so backpack that will hold the necessities for a a camping trip. Side pockets would be nice as well as plenty of spots to organize on the inside. The catch though - it needs to be inexpensive. I'm aware there are a lot of options out there, and the cost is pretty varied. As this is something someone else will be buying, I don't want them to have to spend a lot, but would like to be able to suggest something that's pretty decent quality that I can use for several years. All suggestions are welcome and will be looked in to. Thanks all!
I, for one, wouldn't call a Rush 24 or a Kelty Redwing inexpensive, so if your gift-requesting price range is like mine: 1. Check out this thread: http://www.edcforums.com/threads/navy-color-molle-backpack-from-outdoor-products.120927/ 2. SOG backpacks at Wal-Mart 3. Check out Cabela's Bargain Cave and Sierra Trading Post for clearance deals 4. Condor Assault Pack
Thanks for all the suggestions! The Rush, Osprey, and Kelty look like they would be top notch bags, just a bit out of the range I was looking for. It would definitely need to be under $100, I'd feel bad for asking for a bag that costs more than that haha. Thanks for those suggestions MTFatboy, I'll check those out now
5.11 just had 25% off for the last five or six days. I think it ended at midnight last night... That would have made the Rush 24 ~$100 or the Rush 12 ~$75. If you could get someone to still honor that coupon I'd definitely recommend one of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ah man, bummer I missed that. I'll definitely have to check in to that and see if that might be a possibility. Thanks for the tip!
That one's on my wishlist, but I know the relevant parties don't love me that much (EDIT--actually, I'm undecided whether to hold out for the newer SERT crowd-sourced pack)
Well I ended up heading to Walmart and my local store actually had a whole selection of the SOG packs and even that navy blue Outdoor brand pack. Even though I shouldn't have, I ended up succumbing to the EDC bug and buying not one but TWO bags for myself. I picked up the Barrage for my eventual camping pack, and one of the Ninja day packs for my EDC/B.O.B. bag. Great bags thus far, but now I'm back to square one on the whole gift things. I'm sure we'll figure out something. The things this forum does to me lol
If you can find it on eBay, try the Direct Action Dragon Egg. I was using a MSM Adapt pack but it was too small so I bought a dragon egg and use it every day. I can fit all my work and gym stuff in it and it ticks all the boxes as far as organisation of your edc goes.
