I'm going to be in Argentina for a few days in January. What is and is not legal? Knives particularly. Fixed, folder? Blade Length? Carry? Thanks.
Law Nº 1.472 Art. 85 (carrying unconventional weapons) "Who carries in public, without causing justified, any unconventional weapons, air or compressed gas, stab or blunt or sharp objects clearly intended to use violence or assault, is sanctioned / to a fine of one thousand ($ 1,000) to three thousand ($ 3,000 ) pesos or five (5) to fifteen (15) days under arrest." Is up to the police officer whether he decide if you are carrying your knife to hurt people, or just as a tool. You might grab some attention if people see you carrying a folding/fixed blade knife. You can bring your SAK if you want, which is considered more as a tool. May I ask where are you going to stay? Hope you enjoy your time here. L.-
I seem to remember someone else from Argentina carrying around several navy folders. I'm guessing my Endura will probably be OK then, if I'm discreet about it?
I am going to Buenos Aires next month. I am planning on taking my leatherman kick. Can anyone recommend places / things to do or not to do? Thanks
Do not show openly in the street any expensive gadget (smartphone, tablet). In closed places like coffes is ok. You can plan you trip for the city using google maps, but it is better if some local can assist you. Buenos Aires is a big city. Mostly there are wi-fi everywhere. A small knife or MT in the bucket is ok. I am not sure of the airport, but I think there is no problem. I am not from Buenos Aires, so someone from there could give more exact advices to you.
dude buy a knife there!!! Gaucho knives are great and boker Arbolito has a factory in Buenos Aires, I think?
