Hey all - I thought I'd share my light-duty to medium-duty pouch system. I don't carry it everyday on my person, but it's always in my bag that goes with me to class and work, so it's with me about 90% of the time. In this basic leather pouch (which I won at a black powder match haha), I keep a SAK, a mini multi-tool, an incandescent Maglite Solitaire (yes, I know - I'm planning on upgrading), and a full Bic Lighter. I'd love recommendations on anything I might be missing, etc. I work at a university, so I have to keep things on the tame side, but as of now, I'm thinking of adding some band-aids and maybe some toothpicks.
Can't offer any suggestions apart from what you already mentioned, a few assorted Band-Aids. what I'm posting about is the pouch. I love it, beats the hell of of "tactical nylon" crap. I'm envious.
Thanks! Yeah, I like these pouches quite a bit. They're mainly designed to hold balls for black powder shooting, but I use them for all kinds of stuff. I've won a few over the years. I'm sure they'd be pretty easy to make if you had the tools.
I think it could use a pen of some kind since you work at a university. Nice leather pouch you must have won the bulls-eye match .
perfect little set! the only thing i´d add is a small roll of flattened ducktape. a lot of possible usage scenarios could be covered by that IMHO
Few "tamed" suggestions, considered the "room" measures and free space: some plastic ties (even wrapped in duct tape, considering absolutely ok the mole's upper suggestion); swap the large Bic for a little one (same utility, half space); a couple of medium/large safety pins; a couple of large paper clips; a little hank of micro paracord (or even better of kevlar thread); a P38/P51 can opener (you can also pry with it). No big deal. No great weight added. You know, the list of options could be very long. But at least, these come from my own experience as absolutely useful, in lots of different situations. Hope this can help. Have a great day. Nick
Great looking leather pouch. If it fits an altoid tin, check out that thread. Amazing what guys can fit in those tins. Is that pouch a one-off or do you know of the place/person who makes and sells them? In the market.
It may fit an altoids tin - I'll look into that possibility. I believe it's a one-off, but there are guys who make them. I did an internet search, and wasn't able to find something extremely close to my bag, but I have found other bags that might interest you at Dixie Gun Works. In their 'Shooting Accessories' section, check out the 'Possibles and Bullet Bags' tab.
My first gun ever was from dgw. .40 cal flint lock scout, that was back in '1993 lol! Still have it! Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2
Like the idea. My suggestion would be to upgrade both the coast and the mag light. Also, if legal, lock picks can be real useful.
I will likely upgrade the coast to a Leatherman juice or something along those lines. And I gifted the maglite to my fiancee since I started EDCing a fenix e01. Lock-picks would be a nice addition. I'll have to look into my local laws. Since I'm in California, more than likely they will be illegal.
I work at a university...here is my pouch and contents. It's not a back up. It's my one and only these days. Through the years I've got away from carrying everything that I read is useful on Internet sites, and pockets can only hold so much.
Nice set-up. Looks like we pretty much carry the same things. Overall, I like having my knife/MT and flashlight on my person. Other stuff I'm happy carrying in my bag.
