Do you not value the benefit of a flashlight in your EDC complement?

There are vastly better alternatives than the Maglite Solitaite such as the countycomm.com Maratac AAA flashlight.

Then consider the Fenix E01 - it can be purchased for less than $15 and is valstly superior to the antiquated technology of the Maglite Solitaire.

For that matter, get 10 "fauxton" lights from DX for $5. They're still better technology and runtime than a Solitaire.

Well, it's clear where your budget went: the iPhone, earphones, pen, and blade. It's a shame to see someone with this battery of fine products delve into considering 25-year-old flashlight technology that was marginal 25 years ago.

Aldee95, you'll get tons of good ideas here. One of my early problems was wasting a ton of money trying out gear. THEN I discovered EDCF. Still spending tons of money but at least with proper research and good advice, the level of waste has been reduced drastically.
I would rethink the maglight solitaire. It really is outdated. There are so many superior options around that price range or a little bit higher.
The flashlight, (or a source of light, doesn't necessarily have to be a flashlight), is considered to be one of the 3 basic preparedness/EDC items. The other two being firestarter, (as in lighters, matches etc.), and probably the most important, the knife.
Opinions abound so you'll have to make your own determination as to which will work best for you.
And by the way, WELCOME to the forum!

I noticed you said you had a $100 dollar bill for emergencies in your wallet? You might want to consider breaking that up into 5 $20's, I know it adds bulk to the wallet, but in an emergency you might not be able to find a location that will accept a $100. I know places are supposed to, but often times they just don't have that much change in the register.

Agree. And they work 10 hours with one aaa in bright mode, plus another 10 in a mode similar to the solitaire, the moon mode. You can even get the Fenix E01 for $11.82 from DX now. They're in stock or will be in a few days

    or from 4sevens for $15
    http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=435

    Both have free worldwide shipping.

The fauxton lights mentioned are also far superior then the maglite. I have one on my work-, house-, car keys. On e on my bag, ... They're at least 3x as bright as a solitaire.

Good advice Chucksw40. This advice applies 10X after sundown in some areas.
