People seem to speak very highly of Foursevens' 180 lumen Preon penlight. Penlights, in general, tend not to be heavily heatsinked enough to put out high lumens for long periods, without overheating. Also, run times are generally not too high, either.

How much power do you need?

For a penlight?? I would think 180 lumens would be sufficient. Your average 4 d cell mag light only puts out around 60- 70 lumens. Foursevens while I don't own any do seem to be highly regarded.

I find myself looking for a new nightstand light. Capable of giving nice light out to ~ 100yards (to see what the dogs are barking at)
We have good 300-400L's on our shotguns, so I don't need another tac light.
Takes a deputy about an hour to get to us; I want a light my wife can use to determine if she needs to get something else.
Was looking at a Protec(?) in another thread. Am willing to consider other lights besides Surefire & Streamlights.

Hiya Sparky! How bright you want, how far you want it to lite up... & the most important. How much do you want to spend? I would recommend several like the TK75, BTU, TN31, there are all kinds.. I like em all

The TK75 and the TN31 are on my list of "got to have" lights - maybe later this year....? I keep hoping they'll come up with newer versions of these two lights, and that they'll put these ones on clearance, to make room for the updated vesions, lol.

I don't have to have the latest, greatest, and this saves me considerable money - even if buying, used on CPFM, or wherever.

Well, I saw those 6500 Lumen monsters earlier in the thread; haven't looked those up though.
Will start the googling of the ones listed.

I own a BTU shocker, and I love it. The first thing that comes to mind when you pick it up is 'DARN, THIS IS A FLASHLIGHT'. It has such a nice bulk to it, and it extremely fun to just hold as it fits the hand perfectly.

It puts out 3000lumens, and I have found the beam to cut off at the 200 metre mark (Depends on the weather, fog, rain, or even how bright the area already is will affect it)

Look gents, I'll be straight up honest here.... The TK70, TK75, The BTU, The Tn 31 & Tn30 are all awesome lights. IMO... if you wanted tp buy just 2 lights to cover all your needs. The TN30 & TN31 would fit the bill very nicely. I am not advertising for Thrunite... But those two lights together ROCK

I have the TN31 and can concur. Its a great thrower, but the TN30 is a bit brighter and lots more floody:) I wouldn't mind having one of those too:D

SAK, is entirely correct.... the 31 will throw like a professional baseball pitcher. The 30 floods like the banks of the Mississippi

Look folks, I have no life. LOL... So I am very into these lights... I have the Thrunite TN31 & Thrunite TN30
They are both amazing lights. The 31 maxes out at 1147 lumens with a deep reflector that throws for days
I have a second Generation TN30 that has three emitters throwing just under 3000 lumens with ungodly flood. These two lights are all you need.....
