Key chain and 4-5 inch prybars were the main focus.

Well from everyone's opinion I think I'll pick up a mini pry bar it will probably be the last purchase in my edc.
    Although it
May never get used its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Now the quest begins to find the right one at a decent price.

I'd get a small prybar because it's not the amazing functionality, but the fact that it's a knife-saver. I've been somewhat surprised at the number of times they come in handy...popping apart frozen tortillas for instance.

Does he have an older bike? Most new bikes have a lot of hex and torx but not many nuts.

Lowe's had a sale for a cheapy. It was a couple dollars. I considered getting it for myself. But realized it would be another impulse purchase.

Dasco makes high quality made in USA small pry bars, they may be sold at one of the big box stores? I don't use them for EDC, I use them for work...but you COULD EDC them.

I modded the flat screwdriver on a Vic' Swiss knife, so that I could use it as a "flat pry bar".

Worked reaaly well and it did get a lot of use, since it was ON the Vic.

Which I lost a cople of days later.

So it saw "a lot of use" for very little time indeed.

    Still worked well.

    =)

I have a little keychain bar on my hip at all times. I bite my nails (bad habit, I know) and my bar replaces my nails for picking up coins, etc.... my bottle opener, screwdriver, etc. I love my bar.

Before I found this forum, I had a Leatherman ES4 which I used constantly (I have broken or lost in the neighborhood of 5 of the little buggers). My last one, which I do plan on replacing eventually, broke when I attempted to use the file as a prybar. Later, I was using the pliers on the same tool for a task that required just a little too much torque and most of one of the jaws snapped off. Bottom line: I now own a micro sized widgy bar and a Skeletool CX.

I think I'll second what other members have said. The county comm 3 inch straight widgy can ride in your wallet almost completely unnoticed until you need it. Even if it doesn't see regular use its worth it just to save a nice knife tip.

I own a CC Widgy. Hardly ever use it so it does tend to collect dust, but it continues to ride along because it is occasionally useful. In fact, just used it to pull a magnet out of one of those refrigerator letters because one of my kids tried putting it back and had it stuck so that it wouldn't work. Mini pry bar deployed... Dad a hero! And what's better than being a kid's hero?

I have one of those mini prybars, but I never actually use it. So, it got stuck in my BOB...

Those little Pocketwrench II's might actually get some use. I mean, if I actually owned one. I might have to pick one of those up.

I once used my CC widgy bar to secure a bathroom stall door that had a broken latch, while I attended to some urgent business.
