i have a county com 3 inch pry bar paracord tied to the out side of my lunada. it gets a fair amount of use and it saves my knife blades. great to clean under finger nails, opens boxes well, general prying of course, opens cans etc etc just plain handy tool. i also use the chisel/pry bar tool in my swiss tool x often too. and forgot i use the pry tool on my piranaha pockettoolx often
I bought it at a Brookstone's in the 90s here in Florida. I believe it has opened one paint can since I've owned it. (A proper paint can tool was in reach but I wanted to try it out)
That's what made me start this thread. haha I like the way they look but asked "would I ever use this?
I have a County Comm 3 inch prybar that fits in my wallet, and it sees little use but after bending the large screwdriver blade on my Leatherman Wave I would rather carry one.
They seem like one of those things that if you have it handy you use it, if not, you do without. Like I hardly ever search for the right sized screwdriver. I use the handiest one that might fit I want to get myself one for the same reason Jon stated. Plus if you are carrying just a non locking blade prying at anything can be a very bad idea.
Its one of those things that you just add to your cart when you've already decided to buy & pay shipping for something else at CountyComm.
Other than the cool factor if I didn't need a prybar occassionally at work I probably wouldn't buy one. On the other hand I own a Pocketwrench tool and have used it quite often at home where I have all the right tools but the Pocketwrench was the right tool for the job. It actually worked better than a small 1/4 drive ratchet for what I was working on.
Me and the security guy at work have a good time lifting up our stomachs to show each other our keyrings full of prytools almost every day. ;-b
I carry a small Atwood pry tool. Its primary use is for opening paint cans, and scraping paint. It does seem that a prybar has attained "fetish" status with lots of EDC'ers.
I think alot of people and even myself see all these great gadgets and do-dads and have to have them in their arsenal of EDC goodies... The fact of the matter is this.. we have to ask ourselves "do we really need what we are about to purchase? Will we even use this item once a week?" It's fun and all to want to have or try to have everything out there under the sun, but alot of people and even myself probably don't need more than 50% of the stuff they EDC. Now... wanting to carry it is a different story; needing to carry it?... That is the question. Enough of my rant. To answer your question, NO I do not carry a mini prybar. I see no use for it in my EDC bag of goodies... But, to each their own!
