Looking for suggestions on a little dinky fixed blade. Preferably around 4" over all length. Is there anything out there like this?
There are many, with a wide variety of features. I don't think any I personally own are still in production, and I don't own any of those I could point you toward off the top of my head: Cold steel: Super Edge, Safe Keeper II, Safe Maker II, Urban Edge, and Urban Pal Boker Plus: Gnome The sort of knife you are after is typically marketed as a neck knife or a boot knife. Search Google, Amazon, etc. for those terms, and you should find something that catches your attention. I talk myself in and out of the Gnome at least once a week.
Gnome...but you are really pushing what is useful in my opinion. I'd bump it out to six to seven total and the usefulness and options goes way up.
I really like the Candiru so +1 for this little butt-kicker. Great minimalist knife - get a good kydex because the stock sheath is junk. I added some 12$ orange scales and it rides 9 o clock whenever I'm off work. Very stout knife. Before the Candiru I truly enjoyed Becker Remora. Tiny knife, sharp as the dickens, and really does the job of a small blade. And for 20$, you can't beat it's use/abuse ability.
The CRKT No Bother is just under 5.5". Comes with a Kydex sheath which can be hung upside down and is MOLLE compatible. I have one on my get outta dodge bag.
This is about the smallest quality fixed I've seen or owned, its made by Anza which has been making knives out of files for probably longer than any other company I can think of, its razor sharp and superb quality even the belt sheath. This one has never been used, actually thinking about listing it.
A.G. Russell, eBay, and several other websites sell small fixed blades. This one has a blade length of 2 7/8 inches: I own several of these, but they're just collectibles. I'm not sure that they have any functionality.
I was going to mention bark river psk. Just got one the other day, love it really beautiful little fixed blade. Plus 154 cm my favorite steel.
It's a hair over 5", but I really like my CRKT Folts Minimalist Tanto. The minimalist handle on it makes it seem much smaller, but it's still comfortable in hand. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
The Folts minimalist feels good in hand for such a small knife. The Izula is a little bigger then what you want but is a great knife. That is a Fenix Ld15 and a SAK Cadet for size.
I'm a big fan of the Brous Silent Soldier line. 4.5-5.5 inch total length (depending on blade shape) with a 2.5 inch blade that's surprisingly comfortable with a firm grip.
I have owned a few Anza's in my time.. all time favorite was my Boddington until I snapped it in a bad fall. After that I won't carry a larger Anza anymore. The shorter ones like these are well made and very awesome. As you mentioned.. I agree that there leatherwork is great as well.
Awesome little knives for the price! I kinda have a "no safe queens" policy unless it's a prototype or extremely rare and valuable knife, but this one I am hesitant about using. But hey, their website says they are "build for collectors, priced for sportsman, used by workingmen."
