...But I just rec'd an email today from Triple Aught Design about their new "limited edition" watch strap; the "Quantum Watch Strap" wait for it.... $275 censored:? Really?) it's a Ti NATO strap, virtually identical (outside of the logo) to the Ti Prometheus Design Werx strap I bought 2 weeks ago for $40. someone needs to have a conversation with TAD. Just one man's opinion. I don't know, this sort of thing annoys me. what do you guys think? Reminds me of a $400 Gucci belt

Karmakanic, well said, and this... "Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public", by P.T. Barnum
Yes, I got the email too and was going to post about it here. $275 for a nylon watch strap . I guess I'm simply not refined enough to fully appreciate the "21st century precision machining with artisanal craftsmanship and extraordinary materials"
but a watch for 7 million dollars doesn´t bother anyone? We live in the age where "almost" everyone wants to be seen with something someone else don´t or can´t have, for some reason. It doesn´t have to be something this person actually want or need, but hey if it´s exclusive to 1 of 1 made there maybe a reason....
MangeD700 the way I see it, those are two different arguments. On the one hand, spending seven million dollars on a watch is ridiculous. But, that watch is targeted at a very small slice of the population, the 1% as it were, those individuals who have the resources to afford yachts, multiple mansions, etc. A $275 watch strap is most certainly not targeted towards that segment of the population. It's targeted at the rest of us. And it's somewhat disrespectful, at least I think so. TAD makes great stuff; their jackets are well-designed and one could justify purchasing a ~$400 outer garment, simply because of its versatility and usability. One can't do the same for a watch band, which, after all, just connects a wristwatch to a wrist. If the band contained significant precious metals, perhaps, but this is a nylon band. It just screams, "I've Got a TAD band!" I just don't understand how they can price something like that in a bald-face manner. And you can bet they'll be available very shortly on ebay, for twice the price. SMH
I think, in the watch band deal, it’s for TAD enthusiasts, not for some dude who need a nylonband for his watch. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk

Yo Nick! You can buy a decent watch for $275.00 There's alot of micro brands within that range. Most Swiss watches are overrated AND overpriced.
I was really confused by this too. I think the Omega and Tudo nato cost as much or more than that.... but they explain (provide a good story) why at least. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Actually, I realized this price is based on the titanium clasp and hardware. Not on the strap. Rexford makes real fancy knives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You just don't fully appreciate the "21st century precision machining with artisanal craftsmanship and extraordinary materials"! Yeah, I'm totally with you on this. I visited their shop when they first opened and it was pretty cool; lots of interesting tools, gear, and clothing some pretty innovative. Then they decided to focus primarily on their adventure clothing line and become essentially a clothing boutique with prices to match the Silicon Valley. That's when they lost me. I do understand that they put a lot of r&d into their designs, materials, and with smaller batches don't have the economies of scale to lower prices. It just seems more fashion oriented to me now.
