So first, let me apologize for being away for so long. Got real busy. Lots happened, some good, some not so much. I have been trying to get caught up, but could someone please update me on the state of the forum and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I am a big fan of Jon B, and I would be grateful for any info (PM if need be).

    Now for the good stuff...
Unless you spend every day in the wild, building shelter, making traps this is probably not an EDC (maybe if your name is Dexter Morgan). I don't get out nearly as often as I would like, but I just got this groovey new survival (bushcraft) knife, so I thought I'd share. It has a razor-sharp CONVEX grind, ~1/4" thick blade. No edge grind, it just continues from the knife profile to the edge. Trilaminate stainless - VG 10 on the inside and 420J2 for the "sammich" breads. You can actually see the demarcation line where the laminae meet (~1/8" from the cutting edge) even in my crummy scans. Swedish company, Japanese made blade. Hybrid Vigor? Perhaps. In destruction tests, this thing kicks the snot out of everything else.

Thank you, RevC & JWhite. Sure, Gnarly, it's a Fallkniven A1 (pronounced felk-neeven) List ~$228.29 at current exchange rate for Swedish Krona. Best street price I found $170, delivered. RGNY, I feel ya. I looked long and hard at the BK2. I may still get one and strip, polish and re-scale it. I hate that black coating crap on a bushcraft. Never understood the reasoning, doesn't really inhibit rust, cause it just wears off & looks like... well, you know.

FWIW, Although functional, I am disenamored of the Zytel sheath, so help me out, guys. I am looking at JRE products. They said I can mix & match colors however I like. So I'm thinking of contrasting the brown (honey colored) and black and leaving the mahogany off. I don't have Photoshop for Mac, so I used Graphic Converter. Admittedly, it looks third grade, but it helped me visualize the color scheme. I am thinking number 3 or 4 below. All opinions welcome. Thanks!

    plain black

before you drop the coin, also look here- this guy makes some great sheaths (he does a lot of Fallkniven stuff) http://martinsheaths.blogspot.com/

I had this one done for my F1- hybrid kydex/leather and allows the use of a maxped pouch- he does straight kydex and straight leather as well

Wow! I saw the U-tube videos of the Israeli guy in Sweden.

Some very cool and innovative features on that sheath. Addition of the Max-P pouch is so darned clever. That's one of the things I really love about this site. You can get opinions from folks who actually put their gear to good use. Thanks, Warden. I just e-mailed Martin. What are his fees like?

Anyone know Martins prices or lag times? His blog says he's been in Internet Hell and won't take new orders 'til next year. I'm looking at 12 weeks @ JRE. I guess anything good is worth the wait.

prices I thought were very competitive, especially considering they are coming from overseas

    the workmanship is top notch

when I ordered the wait was very short, just a couple of weeks, but reading his site looks he's had a few personal setbacks

    worth the wait IMO :)

For the time being, I have strapped my Max-P (foliage green pouch) to the zytel sheath. Brilliant idea of his! Is there any where to get a good price on the Bark River Ironwood Burl Firesteel. Online search --> best price ~$50-70. I think the color will be awesome.
