I'd never had a pair of good (read: expensive) sunglasses before, so when I had a chance to buy a pair of Maui Jims at a really good price, I took it. Before buying them I'd never even heard of the brand, but they've been great so far. Has anybody else had any experience with this particular sunglasses maker?
I have just about worn them all Ray Bay, Okley, Revo, Bolle, Del Mar, Vaurnet, Seregetti, Porshe. I bought a pair of Maui Jim Kahuna's abit over two years ago. I now own 4 pair. The Kahunas with the glass lens are in the car, A pair of Sunsets are in the truck, a pair of Kanopollis are in the golf bag and a pair of old sports are on the mower. I now want a new pair with the new Evolutiion lens for the boat. Cant say enough good thing about these glasses.
I had a pair of Maui Jims for years until my wife misplaces them and proceeded to run them over. It take me a very long time to settle on my EDC items, I'm extremely particular about those things. After much looking, I settled on a pair from Revo. Very nice, but I miss my MJ's.
I just got a pair last week. They cost me plenty because they are prescription but I think it was worth it. I had some wraparound Raybans before but because of the curve and subsequent distortion were a little hard to see out of at times. These Maui Jims are sweet and as a matter of fact I'm about to don them and go catch up on a bit of yard work....
Maui Jim's are the absolute best sunglasses that I've owned. The model that I currently wear are the super light, super flexible titanium framed model (I forget the name, though).
They're pretty nice. I've tried on the Ho'okipa quite a few times. I think I might, one day, end up with a pair of them.
Hi OdBm, I like the Kapalua's so much I now have 4 pair of them. Absolutely the best sunglasses ever made. My wife has two pair of Wailea's
I've worn Ray Bans, Oakleys, Spy, Maui Jims and Bolles. Nothing wrong with the other brands. I just prefer Oakley.
i love my oakleys IMO best sunglasses period my reading glasses are like those MJ kapalua's no hinges just a ribbon of ti
Wife just got some Maui Jim's. Their sport models are less expensive than the titaniums. You can really twist the frames al over the place. Seem durable. Early reports are good. I've worn just about everything, too and keep returning to Oakley. Except for watersports, then I like my Barz goggles. Jim
I just pulled a pair of foster grants off my head that are very comfortable. They have amber lenses (plastic) nice springy arm things that hold them to my head and I really don't have any complaints. These were 13 dollars . Now , I'm sure trollers show up on sunglasses boards frequently and bait the folks with the expensive shades , I'm not doing that here. I own a small sebenza and I was skeptical before I bought it (or asked for it as a gift) but it is a very nice knife (not 350 dollars nice, though, maybe 170 but definately much nicer than the benchmade 635 mini skirmish I paid 130 for). So certainly do appreciate expensive high quality goods. Heres my question, How and why are Maui Jims better than Foster Grants or other brands? I want to buy a kicka** pair of shades but I'm worried that a good portion of the price premium is related to sunglasses being a fashion accesory and I just hate paying for that kind of thing (my clothes all come from Wally World).
