I know the dimensions of the manix 2 but is it considered a big knife because I have the Delica 4 and saw a picture of them side by side and the manix looks massive against it. So is it big or is it just me. Also I am uses to a smallish knife will it be hard to get use to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Were these the pics you are talking about? No is the answer as long as you have normal hands I bet you can get used to the Manix! I actually have a lot more control with a bigger knife in general and somehow manage to cut myself only when I go smaller and can not figure out exactly why? Everyone is different though so YMMV! The Manix 2 is one of my favorite knives, I own 3 versions of it, personally I wouldn't say that it's a large knife but it does have some width when closed/in the pocket compared to other knives I own, maybe this is what the OP means? I have large hands and the shape/size of this knife fits me perfectly.
The Manix was made for a deep carry clip. It disappears in your pocket. DSCF1842 by mumbojumboo, on Flickr
I just got one , Its a larger knife for sure but i dont mind the size of it . I think if i could only have one knife for all outdoor activities, she might get the nod. My Reeves is better made , But not three times better . Also one can clip it in shirt pocket. Jake
I agree with the spirit of this for sure. rotate between a few knifes an an EDC and the Delica and Manix LW are so insanely light compared to the others yet Spydie Tough at the same time that I find myself grabbing one of them more and more just for that reason. I have way too many pricier and nicer knives too but there is just a lot to be said for quick and light as long as they are still tough enough for the job and they are.
Had one in CruWear with grey diamond textured G10 handles. Had. The lock is great but it takes a lot of real estate in your pocket because of its width. First I got a deep carry clip, but that doesn’t make the thing smaller. And it was quite heavy. Maybe that was the G10 version though. Anyway, I prefer the PM2 or the Gale Bradley 2 over the Manix 2. IMHO the GB2 is one of Spyderco’s most underrated. Sent from my Glade Air Freshener
Size is relative. As an outdoor enthusiast and camper I'm getting into Bushcraft, but open carry of a fixed blade just isn't appropriate in my area or lifestyle so I went for hard-use folders.... my Manix2 XL is a really nice knife but it doesn't really feel up to the task. My pockets are full of other stuff so I like AIWB carry which is true deep concealment and stable/comfortable enough to forget these beasts are there (well, except for one).
There. Depends on your job as well. A lot of my peers are wearing a suit. My preference are jeans and polo shirt (or something). Makes it possible to carry a folder, covered by the overhang of the shirt. Moving in, sometimes sensitive, closed areas of our customers, I am walking a thin line, well at least I guess. Fixed blades, pouches or sheaths are clearly out of question. Not wearing a suit is already a bit of a stretch, that I can only make because of my credentials. Sent from my Glade Air Freshener
Ok well I work in a shipping warehouse and I use the knife for taking shrink wrap off of skids with boxes on them Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The Manix2 is a good knife. I sold mine (g10/s30) after buying a few zt's and while I don't regret it, if I had to carry a Manix I'd be happy enough. My only complaint was the pocket room it took up.
There are of course 2 sizes to the manix. The Manix and the Manix XL. The Manix XL is a bit too big. Which is part of its appeal ;-) only have the xl myself but pictures here https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?t=53427
Wherever I work, there are no pictures permitted for security reasons. One or the other time I snuck a closeup in here, no security concern on those. Sent from my Glade Air Freshener
